When I was young it was all about the marketing, Bearclaw on the SX Trail doing a 180 foot plant off a cliff, Semenuk laying it down on a Ticket S, even Aaron Chase and Jeff Lenosky throwing down for Cannondale and Giant was cool. These days like others I'm interested in the value, the robustness, but also on my...

I'm not 100% opposed to that idea, but I think it comes with a few caveats. A shorter final will make for a better media product, but overall worse for us hardcore fans. That would have to come with Youtube live Q2, so you can still have a chance to watch your favorite riders. And the tracks would have to be more difficult with impressive features if you're really trying to catch the barely interested TV viewer. Then you will need more non-endemic sponsors because Larry watching channel 23 doesn't give a shit about which suspension brand offers the most...

Look, it seems to me that Luckey's primary motivation for this kind of wild speculation is to drive business to his ghoulish defense contracting company. I do agree with you that geopolitical expertise is often the domain of people with shaky track records, but also posit that any intelligence sources he's "privy" to might not be of the highest quality considering that his sources are probably a cadre of right-wing media grifters turned agency administrators in leadership roles at US intelligence and defense agencies that already have their own reliability issues. I actually do consume a lot of information from...

Sure thing. That said, I appreciate @mickey raising the broader implications. We all know there’s no crystal ball when it comes to geopolitics, even the most experienced and “in the know” get it wrong. I’m less interested in what Joe or Palmer specifically think and more interested in the overarching impact, which I believe was the real tie-in to this thread. You could debate the “if” and “when” of this topic for days, citing Jeffrey Michaels, Bonnie Glaser, Oriana Skylar Mastro, and a dozen others... and still come to no meaningful conclusion. Also, calling Palmer a “mediocre electrical engineer” is...

Fortunately there are more reliable sources for geopolitical news than a steroid-addled former comedian and a mediocre electrical engineer

fwiw, adam (the "money guy backer") was at the venue every day moving lumber, signs, cords, spray paint, dirt, tools, boxes etc. he was covered in dirt like all the crew, in addition to hosting riders for meals and gatherings at his home. he was anything but hands-off.

It's a refreshing change when they let the person on the marketing team who actually understands mountain biking handle the mountain bike aspect of a "lifestyle" vehicle ad. And likely in this case they don't just understand it; they're deep in the weeds. Who outside of the sport has heard of Frameworks? Edit: because the presentation of the photo on Instagram offended me so much:

I know if I was a multi millionaire I'd start a DHI team, and I'm sure a lot of you would too. But we are mere peasants. There are some celebrities who are interested in DH, there has to be. What about CEO's/Entrepreneurs/Billionaires? Someone like Rod Drury (Queenstown billionaire and mtb rider/fan) could change the sport in a massive way.

Just doing my part of adding to the rumors 🍿 Dak won’t tell me anything for the record. But I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about that brand that also makes goggles as a potential team. They’ve got two spots that I know of open going into next year I’d love to see him on Frameworks, just feels right. We swapped bikes in Whistler this summer for half a lap when I was riding the Frameworks, and there were a lot of similarities geo wise between the bikes–tall stack, long rear end, short axle to crown. Also minimal spring rate...

Pretty much regardless of model and trim, if you're buying a car, you can choose interior and exterior colours and trim, wheels, engine, and extras. Why don't more bike companies do that (especially the big ones), or is it just a scale thing? Or "that sounds hard and we don't want to because we're greedy bastards" thing (especially the big ones)? I don't ever want electronic bits on my bike and I'm about 90% sure I'll always been an aluminum frame guy, but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in hi spec things (Telum shock, custom wheels, NSB cranks and...

I could see yeti being a good spot to land for both parties. I think Norton and Rude would be able to grow a lot and help each other as teammates. My prediction is he stays on mondraker or ends up on Trek or Yeti.

Actually, Yeti is interesting. With Camille retiring. They surely have some budget. Assuming they'll wanna keep Tyler Waite if possible. But they'll want another elite male or female to replace Cam surely?

I think it would just leave time for people to invest in activities or ‘work’ on things that genuinely interest them and not just labor to survive. People would be free to pursue art, music, build and create physical things. It think it would make the world better (given time). I would love to get into fine woodworking. I don’t want to woodwork after I’ve been doing graduate school work for 50 hrs a week. I also don’t want to woodwork to put food on my table. If I only had to work 20 hrs a week, I’d be making...

" So ideally those lost jobs are replaced with other better jobs." Just remember, the car didn't make more better jobs for horses. Call me pessimistic if you'd like, but I'm genuinely unconvinced with people who claim that AI will somehow mean more better jobs for humans. Maybe better jobs for some, but not more of them. For a majority of human labor force, we're approaching the "horse vs. car" moment. On the flip side I could be completely wrong and we'll all work 15 hour work weeks and have SO much more time for riding bikes. I'd be on...
