Just a minute… would that mean, if they used your described configuration, AND won an elite WC, that Gates would give them… TWO hundred thousand dollars?!?

Something everyone has to realize about UBM and UDH is that SRAM is in the business of selling OEM to massive bike companies. Anything SRAM can do to make the process faster and cheaper/better for the OEMs is seen as a win. In the case of Transmission/wireless drivetrains, that is a WIN for OEMs. Say they can shave -5-10 minutes a bike not having to deal with cables, setting stops, tension, etc. They can install a Transmission drivetrain in <5mins, vs. say 10-12min for a cable-actuated version. Now, multiply that times 20,000 MTB builds and you have million(s) of dollars...

What I want to know, amongst this discussion of a UBH, is who the hell is managing to strip their brake mount threads? Good lord. You pull that off, you probably shouldn’t use a stove or knife, either.

re: ohlins - I took the comments about them less to be that they will no longer be developing / advancing / improving their forks, but more that they have what they consider to be a full product portfolio for the MTB market, and will not be introducing any "new" suspension products beyond what they already have. portfolio: air shock, coil shock, 34mm fork, 36mm fork, 38mm fork - single crown, 38mm fork - dual crown

One of the good points that Darren from Push made about stiffness with their new USD fork was that torsional stiffness was overblown because front wheel traction limits the amount of force the front wheel experiences while riding. While you may be able to brace the wheel with your legs and twist the handlebars to show some twisting, that level of force is substantially higher than what is experienced in normal riding. I do take that with a grain of salt, since there was a little bit too much marketing speak from Push in the discussion but it was a...

Direct mount transmission. It wasn't really a catch though (unless you like adjustable dropouts), just the ulterior motive of moving everyone to a standardised dropout design.

Quite a few single pivot and hardtail bikes (and Propain) have the caliper mounted between the two stays. It works perfectly fine, inserting the rotor vertically isn't an issue, there's enough space. The problem with that position is that it is a pain in the ass getting to the caliper bolts with an allen key and you can't see through the caliper to align it properly. Having on the top is much better for servicing.

Given that it was probably SRAM's lawyers that were responsible for 5dev discontinuing the udh mod kit, ordering the biggie kit sooner rather than later is probably a good plan if you think you might want one.

Not sure if this was posted before but Biggiecomponents released a SRAM T-TYpe adapter that fits older Yeti bikes between 2019-2023 that are non-UDH, The adapter kit cost only $65 USD. https://www.biggiecomponents.com/shop/p/t-type-conversion
