As well as a higher proportion of pro riders from working and lower middle class backgrounds. British Columbia probably produces the most (both in terms of pros per capita and creating pros from poorer economic backgrounds). And it purely comes down to bikes, places to ride, and therefore...

The original post said "possibly career ending crashes", they didn't say that two careers were ended by crashes this weekend. They're talking about Henry Kiefer's crash and Bode Burke's crash, and it's not too hard to imagine how crashing off those two drops could end in a double femur or spinal cord situation that you never fully recover from. I was talking to Bode after his Q1 crash and he thought both of his legs were going to break on impact. Definitely hard to ignore two SRAM XX DH drivetrain failures leading to very similar and terrifying crashes!

having the three Canadians get in q2 and the other riders that did put it together is great for the sport. If I'm not mistaken, all 3 - the Jewetts and Helly - each had their best day ever as an Elite World Cup rider. Add in Proulx-Royds, Wilson and De Vall with their top 5 finishes in Juniors and there was so much to celebrate. I'd love it if UCI would work MSA back into the schedule and have 3 North American races each season. (Probably never happen, I suppose, but still... )
