Am I the only one that thinks using a bike diaper to hide pretty basic suspension is kinda lame. I guess it gets the people talking though.

They have nothing wrong with their bikes. Like remove the brand from the frame and Im intrigued. But you put ari on it and I just hate it. Astroturfing, diapers and basic bikes to look like theyre apart of the same boat as Canyon or Specialized, then they just have this design… they just infuriate me lol.

I know it can feel like the phone is listening to you but that would break a bunch of laws- actually what’s happening is your friend is interested in a topic, companies have mapped your social circle and know you both hit the same WiFi network/voluntarily gave them your location, so they can make a guess that you spoke about x thing that they’re in to. A lot of data driven marketing is about linking up data sets like this, arguably it’s more skeevy than directly listening to you but there we are.

I love that you think gearboxes will become ubiquitous on ebikes and will entirely replace mechanical derailleurs and electronic battery-powered derailleurs and electronic hard-wired derailleurs and autoshift derailleurs and internally geared hubs, instead of becoming one more option among a confusing sea of options and pricepoints, like everything else in the bike industry. If only it were that simple.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but a 4mm increase in a 57mm width, is not lost in the noise. It will be a measurably stiffer wheel (if that's what you want). Of course both options beat the crazy drive-side dish on typical 148 12-speed wheels.

Time for a project update! A lot has been going on. First, the hardware has evolved. I've done a major redesign to make the logger more robust and easier to build. It now supports up to 8 analog channels, plus digital on I2C and a UART connector for external GPS. The firmware has moved a long way too. Everybody serving the gearbox coolaid and how ebikes are getting them and how that will trickle down to pedal bikes, remember that the Avinox and Gaobao or whatever they are called have a CVT gearbox using two electric motors. That kind of a "gearbox" (integrated variable transmission to be precise) is wholly incompatible with bikes that do not have batteries. The only viable gearbox option covering both ebikes and bikes is the Pinion which is, functionally (speaking in volumes), non existent in both camps. FWIW regarding upcoming gearbox ebikes and trickledown to classic bikes, it's a big no. The way these gearbox concepts from Avinox and Gobao work requires an electric motor, so it's a no go for a non electric bicycle. As for shifters, Pinion has electric shifting via triggers and Effigear always supported trigger shifting, but brings it's own problems in regards to shifting with it. Regardless if the benefits it's quite likely the current crop of gearboxes would indeed be a no go for the average rider based on the limitations they bring with them.
