4/20/2025 2:36pm Some of you never rode when we had no clutches so the loose, flopping chain smashed against every part of your aluminum bike and the fork knocked in the 1 1/8th head tubes and then echoed through your monocoque frame and it shows. I can barely hear my current bike compared to the 3rd grade marching bands on wheels we used to ride pre-2012. I didn't even know you could hear what your tires were doing for the first 10 years I rode.

4/12/2025 5:17pm My god, the class 3 thing is a nightmare locally. We're going through a major US forest service recreation plan "re-work" and eBike access is a huge sticking point. The local MTB advocacy group was for opening up class 1 access but not class 3 because no one reputable made them. Thus implying that class 1 was as far as mtb eBikes would go. But that argument is moot now. As for my two cents? I don't honestly care all that much personally, but the access can-o-worms in the US at least makes me want to puch everyone at specialized...

4/12/2025 5:12pm Around me where we ride alot of state parks, there is no one giving tickets, but there is swath of people who don't want bikes on any of the trails. They love to conflate any poor interaction to anyone who rides bikes. We have tons of mutli use paths that connect trails. Its gone take one bad accident and we may lose bikes in our parks. They don't care if its EMBT or what class. Its a bike to them. I don't understand why anyone needs to go that fast pedaling. Commuter on road, sure.I was trying to figure out...

4/12/2025 5:07pm gonna play devil's advocate x1000 here about levo speeds with the explicit mention that i don't care if anyone anywhere buys one, i would NEVER buy one (who has nearly 5 figures to spend on a bicycle with or without a motor???), i'm painfully aware of the wrench this class 3 stuff throws into trail advocacy, i fully expect 87.69% of levo owners to be rallying illegally in class 3 and i fully expect downvotes to go skyhigh, but... i own a toyota yaris (maybe 97mph top speed). a mid-life-crisis guy in a neighborhood down the way owns a ferrari...

2/1/2025 1:10am My guess is Brembo and the American bike company being Specialized. Brembo own Ohlins, who sponsor the Specialized DH team.

2/1/2025 12:56am I could see these being a helpful training tool for isolating different skills in a coaching environment (like doing drills with only one ski), but to me these things look terrible for general use. And I don't just mean because you can't pedal, I mean I wouldn't want to ride skate parks, dirt jumps, or pump tracks with these. Or A-Line. I don't want to keep my crankarms dead level when I'm riding. Dropping an outside foot lowers my leverage point on the bike by 175mm. Why would I want to lose that? Also, when I'm pumping, I can move...

11/25/2024 9:44pm Lewis should have ripped off Hollowgram sisl2 cranks but adapted them to run the SRAM 8 bolt interface and a 24mm axle.

11/25/2024 9:43pm I think it's more the fact that if just cemented Lewis as a copy cat brand. Their only 2 products are ripoffs of extremely expensive high end western designs made by small companies which just doesn't feel good. Like what's next, they release a bike that looks exactly like a V10?

11/6/2024 6:34am
Parents of current and future mini mountain bikers are in a great place right now. The number of high-quality, youth-sized full-suspension mountain bikes is growing faster than the feet of the kids who pedal them. Earlier this year, Giant threw their hat into the ring with two Faith models equipped with either dual 24-inch wheels (tested) or a 27.5/26-inch mixed wheel configuration. Not only are the frame and wheel sizes fit for pint-sized punting, but suspension kinematics have been developed with lightweight riders in mind. They feature a new short-travel, adjustable dropper post and even wheelsets that are tuned for...

11/5/2024 6:06am Looks good, but 2 things for me stand out in the negative. 1/ chainring mounting, that's a deal killer, If I can't be guaranteed to find one in in a nearby shop if I bend/break a chainring if I'm away on holiday, that's a NOPE! #DOWNWITHPROPRIETARY (or near to proprietary as dammit) 2/ 155 and 160mm would be nice. That said they sound like an excellent crank. :-)
