9/30/2026 8:34am " No one actually cares about cues or whatever, people want shiny fancy shit." That's funny, no one cares about any higher level mtb groupset at all when it comes to the mass market. Cues, 105, Deore and untiered groups sales are what allows Shimano do some cute sidequests like XTR, DuraAce or Saint.

9/27/2026 7:11pm I love that SRAM acquired Ochain, and then told everyone who owned Ochain "good luck servicing your shit ever again". Very cool, thanks SRAM. Sincerely, Guy who runs Ochains on his bike

9/26/2026 1:36am I think you kind of nailed the point- DH bike development isn't for selling DH bikes but selling trail bikes. The R & D probably helps the whole line up of bikes, but it raises the brands profile so much it doesnt matter if they make the money back on DH bike sales or not. Despite the high prices it wouldnt surprise me if they still aren't hugely profitable at all

9/25/2026 12:13pm That's the bleed port their cheap brakes have been using for a hot minute. Always liked them better than the classic bleed nipple. Nice. Also the angle seems pretty ideal for both ends of the bike.

9/7/2026 5:37am I mean…people drive ridiculous lifted trucks but I’m still going to judge the shit out of you. I’ll ask my therapist what they think about my deep seated hatred for electronic drivetrains. Carry on Vital…sorry. I don’t know where else I can be an opiated a-hole other than under the anonymity of the internet.

9/4/2026 4:36am It’s weird - sram can release an ecosystem of groups with proprietary cassettes, derailleurs, chains, rings, that have stratospheric prices and persistent issues (speed, shift calibration limitations, QC issues, cassettes that need to be installed multiple times to settle, battery pins corroding etc etc), plus compromises they try and correct release to release. Maybe that’s ok, it’s up to the rider. At the same time, Shimano releases a new di2 ecosystem that uses their existing(and awesome) cassettes, chains, rings, has the industry leading shifter for ergonomics. A sealed battery compartment, but its perceived to be noisy on some bikes, but...

9/1/2026 12:54pm Before this goes the wrong way: Some commentators are plainly frustrated rather than hateful. It becomes clear if you allow for that perspective when reading the respective comments. To stay with the example: I would love the Grip X to be great for as many people as possible. After all, I guess everyone that is as deep into the matter as the people reading this are asked "What would you buy" from time to time. I think there were potential for this to be true. In my opinion, current fork offerings from Fox are much better than their Rockshox counterparts...

9/1/2026 1:28am Trust me, I get it. I feel exactly the same. I'm honestly getting a bit fatigued by all this pseudo-innovation lately: 32" wheels, competing derailleur hanger standards, electronic 13 speed group sets, 1700w ebike motors, new hub standards - I neither want nor need any of it. Because at the end of the day, all of this is just going to make everything more expensive but won't make a difference to my actual day-to-day enjoyment of cycling.
