4/21/2026 12:00pm I want to see Shimano release something developed from their 2019 internal "gearbox" patent. It had an even higher output shaft position and would make high-pivots easier to pull off without an idlers.

4/10/2026 2:46am Because it's not just idler goes on swing arm, it's idler that is anywhere other than on main pivot or main triangle, ilder that moves at all with the linkage. It's a patent with like 40 different drawings, where nothing is identifiable or even looks like idler positions on bicycles. Honestly if it was as simple as idler goes on swing arm, I wouldn't have as big an issue with it but it is so broad, so poorly defined, and so poorly depicted in the patent, that the patent shouldn't have been granted in the first place. It's a patent...

4/3/2026 4:00pm No, definitely not just tuning via the base valve. But it is modified from stock for all the options being tested. The stock base valve setup on the Bomber CR/Fox Van is quite stiff and uses belleville washers. All three tuning options (Avalanche Racing, Fluid Focus, and Shockcraft) remove the belleville washers and convert the base valve to a more traditional shim stack. All three use different base valve tunes, and Avalanche uses a different needle for the bleed (LSC clicker) as well. Fluid Focus and Shockcraft both use a different main piston, while Avalanche uses the stock main piston...

4/1/2026 11:04am At least in Germany we have this April fools thing as well. (And had it for decades, doesn‘t seem to be an exclusive north american thing imho.)

3/20/2026 12:23pm Also, I'm 99% sure that's a 223mm Freeza rotor, finally. As I write this, the stamped RT66 is the only Shimano rotor you can buy in that size, which is wild to me. Shimano needs to release a bigger high-end laser cut brake rotor for heavy dudes, ebikes, and steep places.

3/7/2026 6:25am I'm not saying that isn't a Manitou coil shock but the spring retention piece is very similar/same as a Vorsprung Telum: I'm fortunate enough to have a Telum and walked out to my garage to verify the shape as my first impression seeing the photo of that shock was 'that looks familiar'. You could say I was...bites knuckle...shocked. Not sure why Manitou hasn't made a coil shock in ages though so intrigued if it is a Manitou for sure.

3/7/2026 4:28am Been discussed here before, I think, but the coil shock on the Gamux bike is visible here. Manitou got anything to chim in on this?

3/4/2026 9:21am 3 test sessions, 18 runs, 9 hours, 1 roasted rear tire, and a few more dings in the rim. The results are finally in with the Fluid Focus tuned Marzocchi Bomber CR coming out on top in every session. All three shocks were ridden extensively prior to the timed runs, including multiple bracketing sessions to get the settings in a good place. The bracketing sessions were done purely based on feel, no timing or other analytics. Avalanche Racing Bomber CR (tuned by Avalanche) This shock felt good right away. It has a magic carpet type ride where chatter and trail...
