That is kind of where I was going with this. Not so much the bike and it’s kinematic which we know plays a part. But the rider being more efficient and possibly saving watts pedaling due to electronic suspension. Which could also be a factor to cancel out the claimed drag and watts lost on these big days/racing on big travel idler or gearbox bikes.

It's not similar to a Mondraker at all. Mondraker uses a short-dual-link design with the shock compressed between both links. Ari's new design is a Horst-link platform with a rocker link that compresses the shock from one end only.

Engineers at Scott must be going insane after finding out Specialized has beaten them at making the most complicated MTB to service, the next Gambler will have 32 pivots in retaliation

It would be really cool if they kept selling the current aluminum demo with a poverty spec for people that don’t want to refinance their house. For what it’s worth that bike seemed universally liked.

Do I understand correctly? We’re getting an obviously pretty hefty frame with normal geo, an only-13/14mm-rearward-travel design, with a fine price tag of 7500€ in Europe? April fools was 3 weeks ago, for Batman’s sake! Would have been better if they left it as an unreleased proto, they wouldn’t have received the big hate wave that’s coming! 🤣

Imagine being Specialized and finally releasing a bike that has been a prototype mule for multiple years, with many victories before its released, only for people to see it and say "nah f*ck that." Rough.

S Works with RockShox?! I wonder how Ohlin's feels about this, lol. Welp, I guess this means there's a $12,000 build of the Demo for us peasants 😂

I forget where I heard it, but supposedly these new Dominions are launching at the Sea Otter and are pumping....MINERAL OIL! 😲If true, that is actually a plus for me, but I know it is a very contentious topic and will alienate a lot of existing users and DOT fans.

Yeah, the discounted Mezzers were a strange sight, to be honest - if I was in the market for an enduro-fork, I’d be all over them (but having a dh-bike, I don’t see the point of an enduro fork taking place up front instead of my Dorado! 😁). In the previous rumors thread, we were discussing the possibility of Manitou...

"Commercially Viable" means you can bring an item to market expecting to profit. DH bikes are an incredibly small share of the bike market which can make it tough to be commercially viable. So much so that many bike companies see DH racing primarily as a marketing activity. For instance I don't think there were ever production versions of the Yeti rail bike, Hyper's freeride bike, the Honda bike, or Herbold's suspension Miyata. I meant my comment to relate to prototypes generally, not specifically to the Devinci you mentioned.

Has anybody heard anything about a new mezzer and/or that new dorado prototype that was spotted last year? I remember hearing manitou's fork dynos were very busy a while back when they started liquidating their current mezzers for so cheap. The talk about a coil prototype makes me curious what they're up to.

Yeah, pretty sure they are prototyping a coil Marra, just not yet ready to sell it. Honestly, the air Marra feels boutique enough already, given the not-often-at-all times I’m a seen it ridden compared to really boutique brands out there. Really do think they need to pair the Dorado with a coil shock, while the air Marra Pro deserves a...
