8/4/2024 8:27am Another bike with a 75mm stroke getting just 180mm of travel is the Devinci Chainsaw - haven’t heard a single bad word about its suspension performance. But given it’s a high-pivot, this might not be so strange. Yet again, it depends mostly on what the engineers try (and manage) to achieve!

7/13/2024 2:36pm The chain is visible to be following an idler-less low-pivot path, so not a v5! Also, may be it’s the angle the photo has been taken at, but the rear triangle seems awfully short to my eyes…

7/7/2024 2:18pm Since noone’s answering in the PIT BITS’ comment section, i’ll ask here as well (and hopefully steer the thread back to rumors): how come there’s no talk about the Lapierre high-pivot dh-bike? Or is it the new Spicy with just a dc-fork up front, which was listed shortly somewhere and now is gone and nowhere to be seen?

6/28/2024 6:22am First time i hear or read about a 6-pot Saint - must have missed it here! Doubt it as all others keep making 4-pots with immense power - a 6-potter will be quite heavy compared to others!

6/20/2024 7:04am Here’s hoping they’d introduce a double-crown Mezzer to have a dh-light fork up there! (fingers crossed!)

3/27/2024 11:12pm Why would they? The Dominion started with bold claims that Hayes is really coming back to the brake game, at first sales were so-so, but then i guess the first users started raving about them and after some time we really started seeing them regularly. Great brake at a regular price - what more could you want? They need years...

3/20/2024 12:47pm So uuuhm, how come noone’s talking about the high-pivot 180mm Lapierre Spicy someone posted 2 pages ago?

3/19/2024 11:33pm It's not really that it's not compatible, the power of e-bikes is the main issue. They wear out the drivetrains really fast as is, idlers will get a beating if not designed correctly in case of a high pivot design. That or a non-concentric layout of the motor would also be a solution. Bird (Ethic) has problems sourcing motors and/or systems for their bikes, nobody wants to sell them the low quantities that they need except for Shimano. But they didn't want to have the failure rates in the field they were seeing with testing Shimano units - can't remember...

3/13/2024 3:29am Why wouldn’t HP be compatible with a full power motor? RM does it, although their concept is a bit different with powering exactly the idler, but Norco are soon releasing the HP Range VLT, Bird had their e-bike through prototyping with a regular HP-layout but still not available, not sure what happened. However, Pyga’s HP e-bike is available but not...

3/11/2024 7:46am Would be quite bice if the high-pivot e-bike market moves a lil bit! The 2 neutralize each other’s cons - high-pivot is heavy and pedals bad, e-bike doesn’t care about weight because it’s 20+kg anyway, doesn’t care about pedaling efficiency because, duuhh, motor! In the same time e-bikes are beasts downhill, so a high-pivot will only make it even more...

3/5/2024 1:48pm Doesn’t look interesting at all - looks like a regular horst-link alu frame, nothing fancy, nothing crazy. The SA even looks too slack!

3/5/2024 5:05am Had a Sunday a long time ago, used it with a sc-fork and a normal headset, then put a dc-fork with a -2 angleset and then a -3 custom angleset. Although it was fun even with the sc-fork, the Sunday’s a race machine - it requires a dc-fork to really shine. Mine was 65 HA originally, so the -3 angleset...

3/4/2024 2:03am It was posted earlier in the thread, after this prototype a newer one appeared with an idler peaking out of the cover suggesting they are experimenting with a high-pivot!

3/4/2024 2:06am Agreed on the cough-cough sentence! 😁 Got them and started raving about them before everybody else went berserk about them! Given i’m a known brake-dragger, i was thinking for ways to improve them (hoses, pads, brake fluid, big rotors), but then i put them through hell and they performed flawlessly, so no need for tuning. Am i understanding correctly: if...

3/4/2024 1:52am The other part of the equation is master cylinder piston diameter. The smaller it is the more leverage it has over the pistons in the caliper. Think of it like you had interchangeable dropouts on your bike and you added 100mm to the rear end of your bike, that’s going to increase the leverage on the shock. The lower the amount of fluid moved for the same amount of piston movement/lever movement the more hydraulic leverage the master has. Hayes use a 9mm bore in the dominions (as far as I know) which is why they have very high hydraulic...
