in a far corner of my shitbox den lurks this beauty. One day her time will come again. you know those barnfinds with old porsches and mercedes gullwings in America, I'll be the Australian version of old 90's mtb. If I had hair I'd get it permed.

Yeah I know... Someone somewhere (thoughts on forks thread maybe?) just recently commented that pressfit BBs are, theoretically, the most logical thing to do, but given how hard it seems for the industry to make two concentric holes it was an utter failure. And it's 100 % true. There needs to be an SBE (Society of Bicycle Engineers, bike equivalent of automotive counterpart SAE) that would define the standards to all things important - interfaces, dimensions, load ratings and tests, etc.

There's also this in the regular bike catalog. The text which has had a filter applied, when copied, spits out this: R.DERAILL. Shimano XTR Di2 M9250-12 GS shadow+ SHIFTLEV. Shimano XTR Di2 M9250 CRANKSET Shimano XTR M9200-12 Carbon 32T BOTTOM BR. Shimano MT900 pressfit PA29 MTB SPROCKET Shimano XTR M9200-12 / 9-45 CHAIN Shimano M9100-12 So that's Shimano's first(?) carbon cranks confirmed? And the brake name is in full view, the new protos we've seen aren't saint? M9220 seems it would be the 4 piston variant.

When it comes to derailleur cages, there really is only one way to do things. Two pulley wheels on an arm. If I’m not mistaken our cage is the only one where the structural arm traverses from the outside of the upper pulley to the inside of the lower pulley. We wanted it to at least be different in some way. Kogel cages maybe look more similar for what it’s worth. The reason this annoys me, though, is we developed a novel chain guide a few years ago. The design is actually patented in the US. That design was copied...

"We know our e-bike customers don't care or even know what VPP is so here's a bike that says SANTA CRUZ on it." (Am I too cynical?)

That 8 tooth idler pulley/motor drive/whatever the heck it is, is a curious "design" choice.

Go look at inflation, high end bikes have always been expensive. In 2004, an SWorks Enduro was $4800. (Around $8500 today). In 2009, an SWorks Epic was $8800. (Approximately $13,000 today) I don’t understand why everyone suddenly thinks the sky is falling. Next everyone will be complaining that $250,000 for a Huraćan is insane because a Countach used to be $100,000. It’s not like you were going to buy one anyway.

There should be a law that once a product is EOL and is not supported anymore, the specs for the spare parts should be freely published. Including, for example, the dimensions of frame parts to be able to either weld up cracked parts to correct dimensions or have someone be able to recreate things. Right to repair really can't come quickly enough.

Sorry to say, but from what I have found out from either personal experience of from other suspension service centers in central Europe, bos is not using any proprietary seals and certainly weren't using them back in 2016 either. It's only "certified" suspension centers that for some reason refuse to visit the nearest o ring store that had the problem. The were all regular metric seals/wipers available immediately and for pennies and if you so desire in multiple compounds so you can try to improve already good frictional properties. And till recent forks with 39/42 mm stachioned forks even fork...

Looks like BOS Suspension is back on track with its MTB range: https://www.vojomag.com/news/bos-suspension-revient-avec-une-nouvelle-g… -> Idylle DH fork / Idylle SC (now named Kyll) (39mm stachions anyone?) / Deville + a DJ fork (the USD Obsys should be back too -oh word I'm hoping for a SC version) -> Void / Syors / Stoy shocks as well -> aaaannd surprise surprise, a 2 or 4-pot braking system is in the works (using shimano pads)

On average you'd have less kick, however there's always the chance your hub is up against its point of engagement and you'd get that kick right away.

I stopped reading Enduro-MTB when they defended headset cable routing as cleaner and "people whinged about internal routing so stop whinging".

Fraezen copied Cascade chainguide/bashguard design with just a slightly different attaching plate so frame compatibility is better https://r2-bike.com/FRAEZEN-chainguide-FUEHRUNG-and-Bashguard-black-30-… So I can understand why Cascade would be angry/pissed when someone say their derailleur cage is a copy of Fraezen cage design.
