Local dealer said new Status is next, 2 models a 140mm and a 170mm. The 170mm is going to be dual crown compatible. Apparently, will be out in about 3 weeks. Pretty sure both will allow mechanical shifting too 😉

It doesn't look like it has much seat post insertion available and the headtube looks to be a ZS56/ZS56 more commonly seen on proper DH bike. Can't find the picture of the new spicy but I would think the shock sits lower to make more space for the dropper which could be done with a different upper linkage if they really share the same frame.

Kiska handles KTM's industrial design, branding, marketing, and communication. They're quite in bed with them. Kiska also handle a lot of the same roles for Husqvarna too. They seem to be doing more and more in the bike and e-bike world.

Another shot of the new Schwalbe Albert Gravity. Pretty similar to a Magic Mary. This one is a 27.5 X 2.6. Les Gets, today.

Looks like DVO has a new Onyx dual crown incoming. I’m assuming 38mm stanchions, but skeptical those crowns will be production? Unless it’s an e-bike/moto specific crown. Certainly looks interesting especially with the conversations about Loic running a split crown.

Just grabbed a Mara Pro and a Mezzer in the recent sale... completely woke up and revitalized my Knolly. I was looking for the deal, knowing full well updated models where coming, no regrets. Only hang up with the Mara is I feel like I am dialing the rebound almost all the way up and maybe running out of damping there. Mezzer is as good as everyone says, Dorado air spring is amazing.

That black Mondraker Summum is maybe the best looking DH bike I've ever seen.

Got to see the new Schwalbe Assegai/Kryptotal type tyre at Eurobike today on a random bike that it probably should not have been on. Knobs look bigger generally to me, though I could not check side by side with the Maxxis/Conti equivalent. Looks like it should be a good addition to the Schwalbe range.

Without defining the nature of an impact, force measurements would be required to know which transmits the most force to the rider. Now if you say the impact in question is a series of roots that are 50 mm tall, then it is accurate to say that the closer the deflection is to 50 mm then the lower the amount of force transmitted to the rider. Assuming it’s in phase with the roots of course. The graph in question here seems to show an extremely small root or something similar. An example of where you need to know force is...

They printed 60 twice on the Y-axis (LOL) so I think that is supposed to be 50mm or 34% which is slightly more realistic. Still, that is a spectacularly pointless plot. It shows the wheel uses more travel at much higher peak speeds but doesn't say anything about the load at the wheel or force transmitted to the frame.

At this point I think Loic's mechanic is just finding new ways to troll us bike nerds.

this just showed up in pit bits download (gallery will be up in a bit). loic's rear wheel. any ideas why this tape would be on the spokes? only thing i could think was some kind of fairing/air director for the valve stem, but there's no way it can be that, right? there's nothing on the opposite side of the wheel that indicates balancing. maybe it's nothing at all, but figured i'd throw it out there. if anything loic's legend will grow more mysterious, ha!

For the sake of not derailling the thread any more I am not gonna continue to argue about this. It's a good bike with oddball design choices on release. Let's leave it at that.

145/55 = 2.63. Not unusual whatsoever. Damping forces can be tuned too, there's no set amount of damping depending on leverage ratio. You could make a shock for a 4:1 leverage ratio frame no problem.
