7/25/2024 1:32pm While we were bickering about transmission and cable routing, other site dropped photos of Zinc's new bike. Looks nice and simple, and is purely a freeride bike where so many other brands are building "race bikes you can freeride on".

7/25/2024 1:32pm You know what's really super awesome? When the SC bikes do finally get released like this, we'll get ANOTHER 5 pages of people rehashing the same points ad nauseum.

7/23/2024 5:01pm The lack of cable ports on future carbon frames is bumming me out. Wireless-only sucks for people who like to optimize for on-trail performance. I prefer carbon frames due to better alignment, fatigue life, and saving 2 lbs without decrease in durability, so going to alum isn't the right compromise. Our cohort has always prioritized spending $$ on top tier suspension, brakes, and wheels, while almost universally selecting "good enough" drivetrain at the XT/GX level. I realize that showroom shopping squids prefer fancy looking gadgets to performance. This sucks and bums me out. I'm counting on the mid-sized brands to...

7/23/2024 5:01pm what irks me with this is the frames are getting simpler and cheaper to produce for them without laminating tubes into the frame but prices will rise nonetheless. the industry is gonna try to milk us until MTB is back to being a niche sport.

7/23/2024 9:24am Drop in the bucket. Trek commissioned did a study a number of years ago and it found for high end (4000 USD and above) mountain bikes, SC blew everybody out of the water in terms of sales - including Trek and Specialized. That study kind of made its way around the inside of the industry and speculatively is why a number of companies shifted to copy SC in a number of ways. Anyway, the point is SC, being the king of high end MTB sales, sells so many bikes to absolute schmuck riders who'd struggle ride out of wet paper...

7/21/2024 9:29pm The common issues on Enduro frames I know of are: 1. Early sworks frames came with a carbon pull-link. These had issues breaking. 2. The integrated headset bearing races have issues cracking and delaminating 3. They've had issues cracking on the seat tube where the rocker link pivot goes through. As far as I know, the only one that's still common-ish is the headset.

7/21/2024 9:29pm Isn’t it funny how this is a known issue yet nobody gives shit to Specialized for the amount of failures while other brands that have a few broken frames here and there ( that get replaced under warranty) takes shit for years and years?

7/17/2024 9:19am The legendary Maxxis Ikon finally refreshed and quietly released in 2.4WT. Appears to be slightly lighter than 2.35. Must be a front only because I have never seen a max psi rating this low of 25PSI.

7/16/2024 1:21pm Thanks Sspomer, Has anyone noticed a real change recently from open mindedly discussing/presenting rumours and innovations, to endless posts about "opinions as facts" on the topics? Maybe its just me, but I felt like this thread used to be more open to ideas, and just seeing cool things, and I'd like a return to that. These new things arent for everyone, and not every product is meant to be the perfect fit for everyone, which is friggin great, we should want diversity in the marketplace, shouldnt we? I feel like we have strayed from that recently.....
