First ride with the Romy Trail Pro Diagonal Soft (what are we, Maxxis?) was a success! With the radial Magic Mary up front, it reminds me of a modernized version of my benchmark Vigilante Light/High Grip and Trail Boss Tough/Fast Rolling combo from WTB. It’s no XC tire, but it gives the Sentinel the pep I’d been missing when it comes to climbing and cornering.

Came to echo this...EXT is amazing - they offered to send out a new at the time e-storia at a discount for fitment verification on the Norco Range v1.1 FT while Push said "It doesn't fit". Shrug. Maybe they verified on the FT1.1, or maybe they just didn't want my business. Will never know.

Push hasn't been too helpful in those regards. I tried as well. Someone very reputable in suspension that I have a great relationship with offered to customize a Push for me to do that but I didn't want to go that route. Especially after how Push treated with me with my V1. Wasnt going to continue to use it. . Ext built me a custom mini Arma for my TB4 and I have a tuned Ohlins TTX22 on it now. Coil short travel bikes are so rad!

This - they defo flick a lot up for the first couple of rides but after that they’re good.

I have the same trouble with new butchers. Specialized tires are super sticky on the first couple rides. Seems like mold release or maybe the rubber is just extra sticky until it gets dirty/broken in.

mr Dave Weagle himself responded to a comment I left about the RMU Nighttrain, stating that the rear center does legitimately grow 30mm to 457.5mm at sag. I still don't believe it, especially because he's claiming it's "poppy and playful" but my range grows almost 30mm bottomed out and is not "poppy and playful".

I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions on this. I switched last year from 29er to mullet. Initially there were some moves on local tech climbs I struggled to make on the mullet but then I think I adapted... On the one hand rollover is worse but on the other hand if you do get hung up it's less effort to get things rolling again.

99.5% of people looking for a GT or SC would have absolutely no fucking clue what Pon is lol. GT disappeared because all they had was their heritage, and that's not enough to carry a brand indefinitely as they pumped out mostly unappealing bikes year after year. I personally don't know anyone that considered buying one in recent memory. I had a GT bmx in 2006 and really liked it, so when I got properly into mountain biking I always looked at GT. Other options were always better. I stopped looking at them years ago. If GT was successful then...

If we compare the new horst link tallboy with the Allied Fitz, Forbidden Reya and Transition Smuggler, there a few difference: Tallboy is the only bike using a trunion shock most likely a 185x50, Smuggler and Fitz use a normal 210x50 shock and Reya use a 190x45 shock. So Reya most likely have a higher starting leverage ratio that could limit heavier rider that are getting close to the shock max pressure. Reya, Smuggler and most likely Tallboy use double bearing setup at the chainstay. Santa Cruz does the same for the Bullit and Vala. Allied Fitz has no exploded...

I’d love to see a shoot out of trail bikes using the same linkage designs. It would really interesting to start to dig a bit deeper as to what sets them apart - quality control, kinematics, maintenance, etc etc.

Be so cool to see an Evil DH bike again. When Evil first launched with the Revolt in alloy I think they had quite a few warranty frames. They replaced all or nearly all. Not sure if material, fabrication, heat treating or what, but I remember a lot of them breaking. That was like 15 years ago, if not longer. I think the Undead (the carbon DH bike) were much more reliable. Then they shifted their focus to trail and enduro bikes. Since then, Sorge and others have ridden their enduro (Wreckoning) bike at Rampage and such without seeing that...
