Damn, looks pretty good. Taking a bite out of the Fox Transfer with the no-shock-pump-needed style cartridge.

A friend at the shop I used to work at says they're getting Transmission problems all the time (mostly imprecise setup and some have had the mount start 'chewing' into the frame, but no broken stays as far as I know). Seems like it's generally better suited to a high standard of frame quality and very careful setup, two things not typically associated with most mountain bikes and their riders Wink

Automotive systems have built in redundancy. The BBW and SBW systems have hydraulic and mechanical backups in case of failure. (I'm a brake controls engineer). True brake by wire, electro-mechanical (EPB's), would still have a secondary redundant power source, possibly even a third, to prevent any 'no brake' scenarios. Wireless braking is sketchy and I'd personally never use it. Always have redundancy.

Not only that, but the military is much more risk tolerant than the general population. Military aircraft require insane amounts of maintenance and still go catastrophically wrong relatively frequently because of how complex they are. Their operators accept those risks as part of the job. Not to mention that fly-by-wire is used in fighter jets to keep them in the air, because they're often so aerodynamically unstable that any human pilot would crash one using traditional controls. It's not just for the fun of it.

Did you just compare billion-dollar fighter jets to passenger cars?

Wireless brake tech certainly wouldn't be all that complicated. Small motor controlling a little piston that pushes fluid into the calipers. But there is a ton of drawbacks and zero benefits besides no cables (who cares) Lag time from lever to brakes, no real way to create brake feel, you are adding weight in general but all the weight you are adding is unsprung weight.

Does the pink site even still exist? I thought they got bought and shut down months ago? Why do we even still mention them?

Haha I'm still not convinced! I have 3 sets of code RSC brakes. All of them have various scratches - one of them in particular has a scuff on the caliper that has scraped off the top layer of paint, it then goes down to a more matt coloured black then through to the silver coloured alloy. This wouldn't happen with anodising? The levers are almost certainly painted - anodising doesn't chip in the same way as paint. My RSC levers have chips that can only happen with paint. The reservoir cap is 100% painted since the dot fluid has...

All this flex stay talk has me thinking about the tuning opportunities of flex stays. If the rear end is flexing as it moves through the travel range, then the rear end will behave like a spring.* This means a bike with flex stays will have an inherent spring rate, even without a rear shock attached. That is really funky behavior when compared to non-flex-stay bikes (traditional bikes?), where the frame movement is supposed to be as effortless as possible, and the spring rate is entirely controlled by the shock setup. This probably wouldn't feel that different from a traditional...

If someone wants to create a topic, I'd be up for it. I've been looking into the relation between stack and reach and bar height in general a lot lately and would love to hear you guys ideas and theories.

Everyone on here thinks you're a moron, and nobody values your opinion. GT didn't even read your email, they didn't get a single idea from you or your silly cartoon bikes. Go and spend your parent's money on fursuits and leave us cyclists in peace.

My guess would be that the suntour made fork & shock body were the cheapest/easiest to source and that the internals are a completely custom affair. I’m not positive but I think ohlins used to do something similar until they invested in making their own lowers/uppers for their forks

With it just being red DVO, I’d be super interested in how this relationship works. DVO hand over all their RnD and contract suntour to build it for WP for a boat load of cash so DVO can further develop their new 2024 stuff we have seen floating round?
