Yes times have changed, but not considering the OG high engagement hub to be high engagement is... Something. I'm also done with Hydras after cracking one drive ring and getting another to spin in the hub shell. I9 stuff is beautiful but built too light.

I was one of the early adopters of the stumpy evo in 2019 I lost count of how many shocks I blew up, I'm guessing 8... Fox, rockshox, cane creek x 4, EXT.... all ate the sausage. Thanks yoke clevis & Obama.

Not sure I'd class Merino wool as a tech rumour, having been around since the 13th century... But I'll agree it's the best material for pretty well any sports-related activity. I'm partial to Mons Royal stuff, especially the merino chamois shorts. Costco always has some version of a Merino shirt for sale, probably the best deal you can get.

Counterpoint: I worked as a mechanic for 26 years, and every single shop I worked for recycled aluminum and steel frames, rims, spokes, and assorted components.

Aluminum bikes are not disposable, they are recyclable. Carbon bikes are disposable and not recyclable. I heard Big S kept their aluminum bike team when some of them carbon folks got laid off. The return of aluminum is here!

Did you ever get a full service done on it? Mine felt the same way when I first got it, took it to Fluid Function (a rockshox service center) thinking there was something wrong with it. They did a full tear down and there was nothing wrong, but it came back feeling 100 times better. Was able to run the recommended pressure now, where before i had to go way less in order to not feel way harsh.

Highly unlikely that margins are worse through retail. They probably need to prioritize OEM likely due to contract requirements or because they don't want to lose on volume. There's no way they have lower margin at retail though.

They make more money putting them on New bikes vs selling them separate, Need to take into account shipping them around the world, Shop mark up's etc etc. better off to try get a cheap take off and retune it.

New Rock Shox Vivid Coil dropping in 2 weeks. Looks pretty much the same as the current SD but it has the same internals as the Vivid Air including touchdown technology
