Honest question, what surfaces are you having problems with on Maxxis DC tires? I've been running a Maxxgrip front/DC rear combo for years on in Oregon, Washington, BC, California, Arizona, and Idaho in the sun and rain and haven't had any problems with it as a rear tire*. For a downhill race I'd switch to a Maxxgrip rear for just a little more grip and damping over chatter, but it's not like the bike was unridable with the harder rear tire. *Of course, dual compound tires should never, ever, ever be mounted as a front tire

Make that 3C MaxxGrip in EXO. That's what some of us want. Or a super soft Conti in trail casing.

Goodness I ditched a pair of Kryptotals after two rides. The endurance casing has about as much grip as a Maxxis that was left in the sun for three years. Only place I can see that endurance compound being useful is Moab.

Correct; it's an all new design. I've been rolling on a set for a while. They have the classic DT fast, smooth operation paired with 0 fuss and easy maintenance. The 90poe and increased durability is a nice update on the existing EXP and LN ratchets.

It is a total bummer as they were one of the OG gravity brands. I feel like the market is hyper competitive. Your bikes have to look awesome, ride awesome, be on the cutting edge, have a cool story, and your brand has to be an excellent story teller to stay relevant in order to achieve long term success. In the last 7-8 years, I felt as if Kona was just riding the wave of tech and innovation vs being the wave.

It's a little wider and so offers a little more volume. The DHR makes a great front tire and lots of folks prefer it to the DHF or Assegai. Most riders like to run a slightly wider tire on the front. Also, plenty of requests from bike brands that want a wider rear tire for e-bikes. More cushion for the pushin'.

The 2.5" DHR2 has been around the race pits for years as a pro-only tire, so it's exciting to see it finally released to mere mortals like us. The 2.4 DHR is a noticeably smaller casing than any of Maxxis 2.5 tires, which makes it kind of a weird match when you're running one of each. I'm running a 2.5 Assegai up front and a 2.4" DHR2 in the back, so I'd totally buy a 2.5" DHR2 when mine wears out. Of course it doesn't matter much, it's 0.1", but I'm a fanboy and I'd rather have the bigger volume...

or maybe, just maybe those new 29er forks have to manage much higher speeds and much harsher impacts compared to those old 26er forks. DC-forks look hideous on a non DH-bike IMO and the current enduro/freeride forks are more than capeable.

The fork sort of matches some of the cat at least.

I'd compare difficulty of installing fork bushings to that of machining and building an engine block. Sure the local dealer says they can do it. But I would only trust the factory that does it day in day out. It takes LOTS of special tools and gauges to do it right. Get the damper, service the fork. Don't worry about bushings.

If I got paid to run them and/or was given them for free I’d stifle my voice. Certainly won’t be purchasing them to use, buy i’m tempted to buy them and put them in the stash for when they become collectible

Honestly feel bad factory riders have to run that awful gold fork. Looks terrible on 95% of bikes.
