I can't come up with anything that does it justice, so I'll just leave it here: " The " Goldilocks crab " refers to the hermit crab in a shell chain that perfectly fits its size, triggering a shell exchange among other hermit crabs ."

I agree that the comment on reflecting pricing was interesting, but I do understand how the significant demand could cause inventory analysis problems depending on how their internal system runs. Speaking from some experience, since it appears Revel assembles everything from the frame up in house, it can be a tricky game since plenty of parts are likely inventoried as individual components that are used in subassemblies of larger BOM's (only "assembled" once ordered), that are also shared between multiple builds/platforms. I have no clue how their inventory or ERP/webstore is set up, but as someone who has managed inventory...

Back when I was young and much faster, in 2011 when short chainstays were all the rage, I had the gen 2 Coilair Magic link. It had like 470mm chainstays or something (thats really long for a 26" bike from 15 years ago). I was faster on it for my local DH track that had lots of steep, loose shale where the 3 min DH segment had average speeds above 25 mph. It was faster for me than my DH bike at the time, despite the Kona having some really crappy tires on it. However, that same Kona was noticeably...

Possibly related, in the recent MBR video about the new Levo, there is this foam model next to the one of the designer's desks: In the (possibly relevant) rendering above the models, it looks to be a bike with a single crown:

Theres this dude on the Wasatch Crest, a trail runner, typically up there before sunrise. White guy with dreads. He will not move for mountain bikes, if you try and move and aren't quick enough he will attempt to shoulder check you as hard as he can (luckily trail runners struggle to get their BMI above 20), refuses to make eye contact, etc. Hikers constantly go up the Bobsled trail in SLC. They put traps and destroy features. The Suncrest official, dedicated, signs up everywhere, DH trails still get hikers on them. Motos do more damage than horses, and all...

Devil's advocate x1001, when e-mountain bikes started getting better ('17-'19ish) I thought it might be cool to be able to ride one to work, then after work, ride to the trails and back home (10-15 miles singletrack & 15-20 miles flat paved trails). Then I rode a class 1 ebike and realized the power basically cuts off just below the cruising speed on flat paved commuter trails. So at that point you're just commuting on a 50lb pedal bike with terrible rolling tires. A class 3 bike you can commute to the trails with changes that equation.

gonna play devil's advocate x1000 here about levo speeds with the explicit mention that i don't care if anyone anywhere buys one, i would NEVER buy one (who has nearly 5 figures to spend on a bicycle with or without a motor???), i'm painfully aware of the wrench this class 3 stuff throws into trail advocacy, i fully expect 87.69% of levo owners to be rallying illegally in class 3 and i fully expect downvotes to go skyhigh, but... i own a toyota yaris (maybe 97mph top speed). a mid-life-crisis guy in a neighborhood down the way owns a ferrari...

I think everyone is overreacting. I have a Bafang Special ebike thats set to a 28 mph limit. On actual trails you never reach the 20mph limit, let alone the 28mph limit. I have yet to hear of a single real case where class 3 ebikes are somehow limiting access. This new drive needs to be compared side to side with the Avinox. Specialized claims to have more torque, and in PB's review he hinted that it was climbing faster, but then never fully committed to reporting on how much. We also need a better way to test range, apples...

Damn! A topic on which I have actual expertise, and Spomer and Jeff (rightly) shut it down. If everyone will indulge a single post, I think I have a relevant point. Putting aside the cumulative debt and focusing solely on the annual deficit of revenue to expenses, we can't solve the problem by taxing the wealthy or cutting spending. The math doesn't work on either. Besides demographics, the fundamental problem is that far too few people make enough money to support their families and pay a meaningful amount of tax. The only way to raise enough revenue is to get...

Hi y'all, Longtime reader, though I rarely post. Some context I run a small non-bike company in Sheridan, WY. We make a ton in house, import a little, and outsource a bunch to other companies in the US. We do about 40% of our sales in Canada. These tariffs will put the brakes on the entire economy. My business is well positioned to make 100% of our product in the US, which would seemingly be a boon for us. But who is going to be able to buy it? Will our customers in Canada want to buy our products at...

Not sure how you are going to get a 250mm dropper, to fit into 400mm total length, when the 250 has to fit into the lower half (150mm in this case), plus the seat mount, the collar & the mechanism at the bottom. Would need to collapse like an old timey telescope like sailors used to use!
