7/15/2025 6:46am that's a worn DHR2 IMO 🤔 that potential DHF2 on jackson's bike has the L-shaped knobs turned 180 degree, like on vee tires.

7/15/2025 6:44am The simplified version is that being more bent at the waist means more quad, glute, and hamstring engagement while pedaling.

7/15/2025 6:34am This is getting down voted, and maybe it's controversial, but I kind of agree with it. I don't think a trail bike necessarily needs long chainstays or a head angle below 64⁰. That's what your all mountain or enduro bike is for. It's not like conservative geo on bikes is dangerous or un-rideable.

7/10/2025 11:16pm I don’t mind the bite point of the mavens, but i would be curious if the change gives it a lighter lever feel. I’ve been on Hayes for a few years now on all my bikes, but recently got a set of maven ultimates for free so i gave them a shot. I just did 4 days at Whistler in a row, and i swear the “muscles” in my rear brake finger were sore. That was nothing i had ever experienced before. It does take a bit more work to pull them, especially compared to the dominions. I didn’t feel...

7/10/2025 11:13pm Not the most powerful based on what? The Enduro-MTB lab test was badly done. I have yet to see any good lab data disproving the butt-dyno.

7/10/2025 11:09pm That's the stock V10.8 brake adapter for 200mm rotors. It allows for the 3 rear axle positions. They also have a 220mm rotor verison.

6/20/2025 2:49pm Nah. The flex stay only moves a meaningful amount when the shock compresses. The flex stay can be modelled as a revolute joint with a torsional spring around it. If there is any angle change at that joint the shock will move. I've not checked out the kinematics but my suspicion is that the flex stays are only bending a couple of degrees so the effects are negligible anyway. The results people are describing could come from general suspension decisions. To achieve what you're describing the shock would have to be very stiff compared to the rest of the frame...

6/18/2025 12:26pm The current Anthem is already a flex-stay design (and has been since MY2023). Since Giant has already moved away from Maestro for its XC line -- and has used aluminum flex-stay suspension on its lower-end full suspension bikes for many years, too -- perhaps they're feeling more free to experiment with new layouts/configurations. Will be interesting to see if that carries over to production bikes or not.

6/17/2025 7:22am The original version came on my YT Capra a couple years ago. The front has been good and I only damaged the rear once bad enough to need to straighten out the rim to get it to hold air again. That being said, I wouldn't buy these. I would go for the Reserve alloy options. Cheaper in the rim only as well as completes and I would much rather have the DT hubs offered by Reserve. Plus I think the warranty experience with Reserve is a bit better.

6/17/2025 7:19am Why are you talking about QR and old shitty Ringle stuff? That has nothing to do with... anything really. Fox 36s and everything else used a 20mm thru axle, and most frames were 142 thru. Ringle stuff was always shit and cracky. I did wildly stupid things to my 1750g Mavic wheelset, absolutely beat it to shit, and I only retired it because I bought a 27.5 bike. https://www.vitalmtb.com/community/matf1,19896/setup,33576?keyword=SB66… There's a 160mm enduro bike with alloy rims and a 180mm fork. 13.6kg. It wasn't uncommon at all to build them up under 13kg. What's an SB160 weigh with an equivalent...

6/17/2025 7:14am that‘s pretty normal when you‘re riding in an area near the sea because of the salty air. my rotors looked almost like that after just 10 days of riding in tuscany (punta alla, castiglione, etc) 2 years ago.

6/17/2025 7:08am I'm of the opinion that you can't ride a plus tire aggressively and have it perform well, regardless of inserts. There's a balance between weight, the stability of the casing, the damping of the casing, and the pressure/contact patch. Plus tires are feeble, vague balloons with no stability and regardless of inserts they roll over far too much in corners and are terrifying on off-camber. Add pressure and they're bouncy/underdamped, unpredictable, and the grip goes to shit. If you make them burly enough to be stable then they're a boat anchor. Some inserts stop a tire completely folding over or...
