Bro, how much additional unsprung mass (AUM) you runnin’? Life starts at +5kgs. What is tweaking sprung/unsprung mass ratio really achieving that could not be done with the traditional suspension parameters. An over sprung and under damped system? Static and/or dynamic friction? I get that heavier bikes -> greater inertia -> harder to knock around off line. Is it as simple as this? Enlighten (get it?) me.

There won't be any littering because anyone that drops a weight by accident will INSTANTLY notice the change in suspension performance

John Tomac is widely considered one of the greatest (American) mountain bike racers of all time. During the early years of international racing he won numerous DH and XC events. I know those have some actual heft to them but the fact they are stick-on is giving me flashbacks to when some pros were running those anti-vibration "crystals" aka stickers on their bikes.

Lead is problematic for multiple reasons. If you need something around the same density (i.e. steel isn't doing it for you) then I suggest 10 carat gold.

Clearly you should expect it. But look at it from the other side. Why does a single click eagle shifter exist? Why did Sram program in a delay in the shifting on Transmission AXS derailleurs? Surely shifting more and faster is the better option, so why go against it? Don't get me wrong, I pull multiple gears very often. But never when there's any sort of load going through the drivetrain. When under power it's a single shift only. As I said, running a Garbaruk cassette exacerbates this, but still it applies to all modern wide range cassettes. More so...

Thinking that shifting across multiple gears is a marketing thing because it doesn't work in practice is just admitting you have no idea how to use a mechanical drivetrain lol.

Spotted an interesting DH bike in Verbier today, gearbox, high pivot and the rider was wearing what looks a Whyte Bikes t-shirt

So many bones to pick with that vid. The outgoing Zerode Katipo is very capable and aside from the seat tube angle I have very few complaints. It's a pleasure to ride. Much more satisfying ride quality than my SB Yetis. It is an enduro bike and they all climb tolerably at best in general race trim with the ethos of get it to the top, make it ride really fast on the way down. I have only washed the belt and lubed the idler in my season and a half of riding. No issues... With a cable grip shift...
