Similar product, spotted at the Snow Summit National last weekend behind someone's van. Asked and he said they work great, exactly as intended. We compared notes about how blown away we both were the first time riding a heavy ebike through choppy rough stuff. Regarding enduro... Wild idea, did it maybe work 10 years ago because it was something new, fresh and we were interested in it, now it became a bit stale and people gravitated away from it? So no matter what they do, it's basically a fools errand?

I just got an ebike and it's blowing my mind. I don't think I was ever an ass about it, but I was certainly a bit judgy before. Now, I get it. For me, it just eliminates the slow, sloggy parts of the ride – it's always cruisy and fun. Plus, the penalty for using reliable, confidence-inspiring parts – beefy tires, big brakes, hefty suspension – is essentially eliminated. He may be commentating if as others pointed out he doesn’t feel he’s quite ready to win yet. My guess is he does loudenville and us open as a “warm up” and targets msa for his real return. He’s always been competitive there and it seems that place is pretty special for him. And while I’m sure he’s absolutely gunning to get back to his ways he’s been pretty open about rushing back not working in his favor in the past.

In my experience, people who are faster than me kick my ass on any bike. The same principle tends to work in reverse for people slower than me. And when I'm riding by myself, the determining factor is typically my ability to focus on speed instead of dwelling on how my bike is or isn't performing*. *assuming all bikes in question are, at a base level, functional. Wheels roll, tires holding air, suspension goes up and down, brakes work, etc.

The speed difference between a WW (Weight Weenie) XC bike and a good pedaling AM bike, is 70%+ in the tires. Maybe 20% in the rotating bits (mostly wheels) and then just a bit in the travel and extra chassis weight. As an experiment some years back, I removed the drivetrain (wheels/ tires/ rotors/ cassette, basically just swapped the wheels over) from my WW Spur to my AM SJEvo and did an all out timed loop on a 35-40 minute section that is pretty XC style. It for sure had rocks and a handful of small drops/ ledges (1-2.5') but...

I agree that's it's a 'motor-bike', by definition. But ya know, pedaling uphill at 2 mph on a bike vs. 4 mph on a mid-power e-bike, ain't such a big deal in absolute terms. You are still crawling up that hill, nothing like a 55 hp KX450F. As far as 'cheating', I ride by self 97% of the time when riding the e-bike, so not sure how I'm 'cheating' when there isn't even a race going on. I mean bikes are also 'cheating' hikers by your definition, but only if you are racing them. But I certainly get the resistance...

I think the “enduro” bike as we know it is dying. We keep seeing enduro bikes creeping towards DH bike territory with longer travel and dual crown compatibility, while trail bikes are creeping up on enduro bikes from the other side. I can see the classic 160mm enduro bike going away and being replaced by 170-190mm descent focused bikes with dual crown compatibility like the Spire and Spindrift. Then riders with more mixed trails will gravitate to slightly shorter travel “all mountain” bikes like the Ripmo, Stumpy, and Bronson.

I believe only Dak and Luca met criteria for automatic placement on Worlds team. All others had to put in a petition which asked questions about WC placings, why you should be chosen etc. Not sure if Ryan was automatically in since his wins were in Jrs the year before.

as someone said, maybe he didn't want to go. he raced national champs and monster pro - two races on the new sled for you to see how he's done on it. he did well, but didn't win. if he doesn't think he's going to win world champs, why even go? (i have no idea if he wanted to go or not).

New Bosch gen5 motor and components due out at the end of sept. New 800w and 600w batteries and top tube integrated screen. The 800w battery is lighter than the current 750w by about a pound with more advanced cells. The motor is roughly the same weight as the gen4 with the same 85nm and 600w peak power and 2 bolt attachment rather than 3. A slight evolution, not the leap DJI and ZF are bringing to the game . There will however be many bikes with new/updated frames due to this change.

I think that's in line with the Olympics, Taiwan = Chinese Taipei. Whereas Hong Kong and Macau compete as such in name, but if they win a gold medal, the Chinese national anthem is played. I am guessing Taiwan has its own anthem played if it wins gold.

Having DH, Enduro & XC all under one Promoter needs looking at. I'm not sure it works.......Ski-ing is an example; you don't see Downhill Alpine in the same venue as XC, do you? They are under the FIS banner, but run separately....... And Enduro seems to have been trashed to fit into the new deal; get it back to what it should be; a multi day event similar to WRC, or EnduroGP in motorsport. You get a AMA licence, turn up to Anaheim1. Put in a top 40 practice lap time and you get to race a qualifier. Get a top 10 in that and boom.......You are racing in a Supercross final.

Define elite. If a privateer qualifies to race in the elite category doesn't that make them an elite rider? If they get down the track faster than someone with a factory ride haven't they earned the right to race? There are numerous team riders that rarely qualify for finals.

Saw a 2025 catalog this weekend that peaked my interest. It looks like Bosch might have a new generation CX level battery coming out. Size 800 maH, and has a much lighter weight for its size. Granted the bike that it comes with has a major design change to the frame, but they’re claiming a whopping 10 pounds lighter weight over the 2024 model…
