Looking at riders who’s teams are packing up clearly Benoit is the biggest name up for grabs. Did I read somewhere that Atherton and conti/GT are pulling out alongside Saracen? I can see Danny and Kolb picking up a ride next year but could Charlie Hatton and Matt Walker be in trouble? Both have world titles behind them but don’t seem to get that much coverage.

It's an option in the riders contract, the team can't stop them leaving, Loris winning hasn't locked him in with trek, but if he didn't have a contract next year and wanted to stay he would have that option.

Any second tier or lower team, there is a reason a lot of guys have jobs in the off season

Unless someone else sinks a lot of money into FMD like Canyon did (they were pretty shoestring in the Transition days) then they might struggle to attract top talent. Atherton seem big but they are mostly self funded and I don't see them selling the volume of bikes to support a big roster. The initial money came from outside investment and the bike park is not a big money spinner (Gee is doing a multi date speaking tour at the moment to pay the bills). After my friend @jeff231 made a comment about the Highroller 3 being sturdier than his DHR2 at the Snow Summit Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series and Jason making a similar comment on B Practice I went down to a bike shop yesterday to see if there was a difference in the sidewalls. Sure enough, the Highroller 3 has what feels like one of those anti-thorn strips running from the bead to about 3/5th up the sidewall under the rubber. Mentalities like this make me chuckle because I don't think I've ever had a casing of any tire that didn't wobble. Been on Pirelli, Maxxis, Conti, WTB, and Vittoria on the mountain side.

Hope is a great company with admirable business practices. Then there's Specialized....they've made some great bikes (I've owned a few), but when it comes to business practices, not so great.

So it took me way to long to stitch these together and export it properly, but I did this test with the tyre at 18psi and 26psi, the 18psi gave the best result. Using parts on hand like some springs around 11.8 N/mm, a 250g mass and a 600g(250+350) mass. I filmed some video of my sketchy TMD attached to just a wheel this morning. Specfically tested it with the weights still attached but deactivated, as well as different amounts of weight and different tyre pressure. And yeah it makes a huuuuge difference having the correctly tuned TMD vs just adding weight. Just got to stitch the clips together and I'll post them up And yes the tyre contact patch is the only "true" unsprung mass - not to say controlling the wheel relative to the frame isn't important, but its ideal if you can reduce unnecessary vibration from transmitting...
