The former marketing guy does. He's with Shimano now. Not sure about the new one. But I would assume that they're in Santa Cruz.

Did anyone read the new Dorado doesn't have a steerer tube, just a threaded rod to compress the bearings? Pretty interesting concept.

Intend had in on their Intend Infinity DH fork too, worked great, just less adjustment possible

Maverick did it on their DUC fork 20 years ago.

Has anyone heard about an updated SB160? Thought I saw someone mention they spotted the proto on a ride last year... curious if it's around the corner.

Last rumor I remember hearing is that it'll likely get the six-finity platform similar to what's on their e bikes.

I had assumed this would be 'one bike' now. As with the LTE & MTE, the Sixfinity platform allows you to run either full 29 or MX set up via a flip chip. I can't see that in the current climate it makes any sense to manufacture two platforms. I currently own an SB120 and an SB160 and wonder whether they will become the pinnacle of engineering when it comes to development and complexity of the SI system. It seems like the industry is defaulting to a four/five bar approach by default now. Santa Cruz are obviously another majot example of this. Brands seem less inclined to push the evelope when it comes to suspension design.

So many of the problems and challenges manufacturers had to make compromises to accommodate, and in so doing, produce something that rode fairly uniquely, simply don’t exist any more.

Shock tech, manufacturing/materials tech to make things small, light, durable, stiff, single rings, etc etc. these all drive most designs to the middle of the curve(s) with the outliers being the designers who do want unique.

Yeah, that's a much more succint way to put it! It's the 'Concorde Theory', we've kind of gone backwards from supersonic flight because we realised there was another way to solve a transatlantic day trip, the internet.

Those 6 bar yeti bikes had reviewers gushing. I’ve had absolutely zero desire to try a switch infinity bike. If they follow through with 6bar non e-bikes I’ll be really trying to give them a shot.

Me: Can we stop and get a 6-bar suspension from Yeti?

Mom: We've got 6-bar suspension at home:

For older Amflows, but I suppose the new ones might be supported as well: https://www.mklinkage.net/

"Climb & corner speed +~10%" is a bold claim.  Haha.

I can assure you it wasn't. I am still riding the bike, but intentionally didn't have it in my possession until the day of launch, to avoid this exact thing from happening.

Saw it during some proto testing in the winter in Durango. Was wondering when it was going to show up

Pretty sure that is a 29er. I would be surprised to see Rock Shox release a Pike 32" fork before a Sid 32"

No production 32" fork this year from RS or Fox.  XC versions coming first.

hmm... the back wheel size compared to the cassette made it look like a 32, but now I'm second guessing myself

The i-track patent is based on the floating idler if I’m not mistaken and there’s no idler here at all

Did you follow the link explaining the linkage? You will see an idler mounted to the lower link

Do we see Norco re-vamping the sight/optic in the next year? I just walked through the local shop. Lots of them there. Really common to see norcos around the area, and I have not seen a single current (high pivot) one being ridden in the wild.

I want to see them go back to the normal pivot and just kind of refine what they already had.

Heard a while ago that the Optic is going to go back to a more traditional non-idler design. I also heard they were coming with O-chains… 🤔

That would be interesting and cool. I’m assuming if that’s true, they think they can gain some sort of benefit/feel required by having a high kickback design, and mitigate the kickback with the ochain.

I really want to live in a world where I have a hard time deciding between a sight and a process. Currently neither of them float my boat.

Yep new Optic later in the year, more like Gen2. Gen3 idler version was cool in theory but kinda a useless bike in the real world. It will be interesting to see what they do with the Fluid as it would bring those platforms closely aligned again. Noting that the Revolver also has more travel now, their short(er) travel space is fairly congested.

Stumpy 15 aftermarket rear suspension shootout coming soon? Cascade vs MKlinkage..

Definitely been curious on trying a gen-3. I’m guessing they’re gonna be pretty affordable soon.

The BB drop is a good indicator. There's no way this bike has 32" wheels.
