Looks different for sure
I've seen the embargoed launch video at my local shop but it didn't answer my burning question which is if it's dual crown compatible or not. The phrase "single crown, double black" does not have me hopeful, which is a shame because this would automatically have replaced my Patrol as my park bike.
At least it's still VPP tm
Tbh I don’t get what the hang up is regarding dual crown comparability. I think that’s more of legal dept. jargon vs its actual capability. Toss a 40 on that hoss and don’t look back. If a frame can take a pro-level rider and a zeb, there’s zero reason it can’t take a dual crown.
From Intend on instagram, is that rear derailleur a proto Reverse componentes bit or something like that? Also sporting the intend dropper.

It's not a derailleur. It's a singlespeed chain tensioner that Reverse has sold (in a few different versions) for at least a few years.
Pump up that SeaSucker!

Info on that new coil/air hybrid shock from Intend here: https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/intend-launches-hybrid-rover-shock.
It's probably less about the extra forces a dual-crown puts on the frame these days, I think you're right about that. The one important issue to keep in mind though is that the stanchions will bump against the head tube junction area, and if the frame is not built to take the resulting direct force in that particular area you could easily cause an issue in a crash.
Could be also about the clearance between front wheel and downtube at bottom out with longer travel forks.
I really, really hope that's just a weird optical illusion and the glovebox door doesn't actually protrude out of the frame like that...
Anyways, the geometry of the new Nomad is somewhat on the conservative side, as per usual with Santa. Size large has 475mm of reach, 643mm of stack, a 77° STA, a 64° HTA and 443mm chainstays. That's for the "high" setting. Technically, there also is a "low" setting, but in truth it doesn't really do anything (- changes the HTA by 0.3° and changes the leverage curve by the tiniest amount).
ever experienced the seal friction of an intend product?
New Saint and XT flats.

Not only they look awful, those pins wouldn’t grip on shoes with glue, I saw them the other day and I would give them a penny
They don't look like they've got much bite.

I assume you can BYO pins if you want.
Is it just me or does it look like horst link?
Definitely a Horst link.
Jeez, didn't see the white one laying on the ground on the top pic. I was only looking at the blurry one.
On that note, does commencal have any single pivot bikes left?
I totally agree but on the site for the current Nomad Santa Cruz specifically calls out that the carbon at the head tube is not strong enough to take impacts. If it was just legalese why would they go into that detail? I’m still thinking the thick ODI fork bumpers would do a fine job at dissipating the shock from an impact but don’t want to mess with possibility of head tube failure on a park bike of all things.
I believe the furious/frs still is but I’d imagine it’s going Horst too if they changed the clash. Maybe not though?
That looks like a lot of chainstay.
You need to design an impact zone for the fork bumpers otherwise, yes, the head tube area can get crushed during crashes.
I found a better rendering on Commencal website :
ODI fork bumpers are harder on frames than OEM bumpers from basically any fork manufacturer.
They put the mounting screw between the fork stanchion and the frame.
Not sure about that look simialar to the Specialized boomslang pins. And those things are super grippy

Thats smaller than the outgoing Nomad lmao
So basically its just a long travel Bronson.
That's one ugly rocker link
Crabs... Crabs everywhere
