If warranty was handled with DJI directly I'd join the ranks of the Avinox fanboys. Outside of bikes I can't think of a single product I own where I wouldn't be contacting the manufacturer for a warranty. Seems like a total waste of time for my LBS and complicates the communication for the consumer. I'm more than capable of sending a few emails and dropping parts (or even whole bikes) off at UPS.
Here's a first look at Mondraker's new Zendit, which is equipped with a new Avinox motor. We can't reveal any details about the motor just yet, but there are plenty of details about the bike itself to discover: https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/first-look-mondraker-zendit-new-avinox-motor.
That's a good looking bike.
I have a 2025 crafty xr, and the 150mm of travel feels more like 170mm. This should be pretty impressive performance wise.
New vid from Rob too:
Edit: And from the german EMTB-News article: "As part of the launch of the new Zendit, Mondraker has opted for a two-stage embargo. During the first phase, we are therefore prohibited from publishing any detailed information about the motor system until 4:00 p.m. on April 9. Only after that time will we be able to discuss the motor in greater detail and provide further insight into the relevant technical specifications."
So the new Avinox M2 is coming probably on the 9th of april.
UK warranty is handled by Avinox directlty
Whichever brand the system is in the providing LBS will have been provided access to the Avinox portal (via Amflow, Forbidden, Unno etc.).
They’re process isn’t super slick yet but a replacement motor arrived from my Druid within 3 days of setting up my claim.
What have we here? A new SL frame and something longer travel? Looks like new front triangles for sure. They ditched the almost backwards looking forward shock mount.
One downtube is chunky, one is not. I've been wondering what is going to happen with amflow now that other oems are proliferating the market. It was one thing for amflow to exist in order to gain traction in the market... it's another to have the motor mfg directly competing with other bike brands.
I wonder how much astroturfing and trading of free product for positives reviews is going to happen on this round. One would assume that they do not need to do that, but people rarely stop getting high off of their own supply after they start.
afaik the right one has the 700wh battery that is supposed to power the atherton ebike too
The one on the left has a removeable battery and the one of the right a fixed battery. Both are 150mm rear wheel travel and most likely share identicle geo AFAIK.
Looks like Teewing is joining the long line of brands about to drop a bike with the new Avinox motor: https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/video-watch-josh-gleave-rip-teewing-flux-uk-trails.
What those chain stays be measuring tho?
This would be great if true. I think a lot of the mainstream appeal of the DJI bikes is because of common sense features like fast charge, USBC port, good top tube display, etc. Being able to choose if you want the slight weight penalty of a removable battery or not is another step in that direction. It's a breath of fresh air how DJI is approaching this like a consumer electronics company and not a bike industry company.
Off topic, does anyone in the know have an idea when Velduro will have a US distributor? Talk was it was eminent but not updates in last couple months.
I don’t disagree that all of those features are nice to haves for sure, but the mainstream appeal of Avinox is clearly due to them currently winning the power arms race (that a typical buyer is swayed by), and allowing bike brands to design frankly much better looking bikes. Without Avinox, Specialized and Bosch wouldn’t be rushing out multiple firmware updates to boost power since that’s the only quick card they can play to minimize market share loss, for better or worse.
I wish manufacturers would take the removable battery approach of sliding it out of the downtube with a turned up motor now that the motors are so small. It would make the downtube slimmer/stiffer without a cutout at the front or side and save weight plus lower center of gravity. Or make the motor mount to be able to swing the motor back quickly.
Curious question, I love my bosch gen 5 at 85nm in all modes except turbo set at +5 assist, 100nm and 750w for the steeeeeeeep stuff(which I have very little of around here)
What really matters TO YOU? NM or Watts?
Would you take 150NM at 500watts? Or 75nm at 1000watts?
I’m riding an avinox motor and I’m gonna explore this. I think there’s a good argument in favor of high torque and low power—high power makes it so easy to hit 20mph on a multidirectional trail that you run a serious risk of a 40mph head on collision with an ebike going the other way
Torque to get going, power to keep it moving. Just like a car.
Gee, I feel so old fashioned with my outdated Bosch Wild. I slapped it together last night, but all the set-up is yet to be completed and in fact I think I disconnected something when running new brakes as the motor won't power on now. Will try and get that handled in a couple of days when I get some time again.
It's showing 49.2#s ready to ride now with pedals, with dual coil suspension (Avy front and rear), dual DH rims, dual DH tires, electronic dropper and electronic shifting, Size L with CXR and 600wh battery. still need to install my forged shorter cranks and pedals, so will call it right around 50#s.
I cant say this is my main appeal coming from riding specialized since 2019.
I don't want a current gen specialized with superfat downtube and disgusting battery flap.
I don't want a bosch bike with a 600 as it's too small. I don't want a bosch bike with an 800 as again, superfat downtube.
Additionally i don't want a bosch anyway due to them making derestriction difficult.
I wouldn't want either of these even if they had more power.
My avinox powered velduro arrives next week.
update coming for the speed and Torque - bosch in may.
I need an easily removable battery to take weight off the bike to go on my Car Rack - As long as its not out the side, the bigger downtubes dont bother me aslong as the design into motor is smooth and not like the old giant/yamaha that look pregnant.
I went with a Gen 5 Rail, More so because of local shops(trek) and bosch warranty is good here.
After saying all that stuff, Why are you buying an outdated avinox? New one coming in a few days.
On that note I find it surprising that I haven't seen the Amflow PL reduced anywhere (in the UK at least), but here you can get the Pro model reduced by over £1000 or more and I've seen similar reductions in other countries.
Can’t do these fat down tube 800wt bikes. I’ll go back to analog first.
Yes, I think you just made my point for me. Power and looks are what set Avinox apart from Bosch and Specialized, and why Avinox are taking market share from both. Bosch and Specialized can push firmware updates to boost power to stay close on that front, but no firmware update will make their bikes as visually attractive as an Avinox bike.
I think the mainstream appeal of Avniox's power is more nuanced than that. I hear the quote "full power without the weight" all the time talking about Amflow. That's the appeal vs "it's the most powerful motor". The average Avinox rider cannot quote me the power numbers of their motor like us forum nerds can. Not to mention riding in mixed motor groups so probably not even experiencing that full power. Tons of ebikers never touch boost and do not care about an extra x watts and y torque.
I maintain the most interesting thing about DJI being in ebikes is their batteries. They literally make light af batteries that power flying vehicles.
power is nothing without control. 42 vs 1 status updates per wheel revolution is what sets avinox apart from the competition. they just know so much more what the wheel does and can react so much faster. just a better systems design
The Velduro's are shipping with the M2
From my point of view: 150Nm is going to wreck drivetrains and 1000W is going to empty batteries at a ridiculous rate.
I'm most likely upgrading to Avinox next month, but mostly with the expectation to have a much lighter system (new 700Wh battery, effectively confirmed) or much higher range (940wh battery, no leaks but feasible). I'll mostly ride in a setting similar to Bosch's EMTB+ (100Nm, 750w). If the price I've heard for the new amflow's is correct, I might just keep my bosch bike around...
Shimano ep9000 series? Was looking for a tool on parks site and spotted this, I've never heard of a bike with this motor..
