One challenge with low volume apparel is amortizing the development cost. Soft goods sometimes cost more to develop than hard goods as it's a ton of labor making patterns, sewing up samples, testing, reworking the protos, repeat this several times, then have the factory make a few pre-production samples to make sure they interpreted your tech pack correctly. You also need to validate for durability (all brands do this, right? RIGHT?). It's as much voodoo as it is hard science, which means lots of back and forth. Yes, we give them CAD files for patterns, but it's still all hand...

Cheers for making this thread. I think it’s going to get quite old man shouts at clouds, but there we go. I come at this from a slightly different angle, I’m an elected local councillor. As a result I’ve managed to have meetings with a few of the land owners and managers at my local. It’s a complicated picture, 3 public owners, a few private and 2 main land managers who have different goals and incentives. It’s an intensively used bit of land, 2 million people live within 30km of it in a very nature deprived part of a very...

Unfortunately I'm an idiot, so I'll answer your question even if it is sarcastic. I found a known value that's easy to measure, the rear brake rotor. I set it to 203mm (as mentioned in a bike check from my memory) 16.2cm = 6.377 inch, rounded up however the app used rounds things and also not a perfect angle. Closest match for phone size would be a Iphone 16/17 pro max at 16.3 cm or a google pixel 9/10 at 6.3 inches. I'm going to go with the iphone 16/17 pro max. I should touch grass. I'm also either going...

Unsure what you’re asking, but I think it’s aimed at how Avinox support warranty in market? Avinox doesn’t have centralised service partners or run it themselves in market, instead each brand partner in that market is the warranty point of contact for Avinox motors on that brand of bike. I.e. have a Amflow issue, your retailer goes to the Amflow...

Time will tell, I really hope the rumours aren’t right an my statement is proven wrong. Ellie has definitely done damage, as mentioned she was braced and on crutches today. The track was fierce today, lots of injuries this week.

I heard from an industry head that Erice went down hard, two broken femurs hard. The last drop to step down had to be really precise and too much speed sent you into a wild compression. A few elite males were spooked by it. I hope it’s not as bad as it sounds. Erice is such a talent.
I think this is what we’re seeing, he’s the poster boy so it’s a bit of virtue signalling… but it’s also got a twinge of “shouting at clouds” about it, mostly because it’s US/NA focused. Bosch is definitely considering higher speed limitations in certain markets where there’s no governance or legislation to limit it. On latest CX motors only. Bosch...

All the debate on compliance between 31.8 & 35 bars and I'm over here thinking a set of Doom 22.2 cromo bars might be in my future unless I can find someone else making a 55-60mm cromo rise bar.... Or buying a pipe bender and making my own.

Chainstay basically aligned with top tube, round looking cable entry on the down tube. Closest I could find is a Trek Sesh

Adidas still owns 5.10, right? There’s been rumours of them dropping the 5.10 branding and replacing it with Adidas for years, maybe this is the start? We’ve seen this before on collabs with Brendog where they remove 5.10 branding apart from a small detail on the heel pull.

I agree that this should be celebrated as far as someone doing what’s best for her and has a support network that is sticking with her. I do think that the “sad” part (though I don’t think sad is necessarily the best descriptor) would be that she’s coming off her best season results wise but clearly there are underlying issues that she’s experiencing with either burnout or mental health that have left her needing to make this decision. Only time will tell, but if she emerges on the other side and returns to form or, conversely, doesn’t return to form...

I don’t find it sad. I find it amazing that’s both she and her team are on board doing what is best for them at the moment. So many racers would never do this as even less teams would allow it.

Jacks announcement took a few of us by surprise last night. It's sad that one of the best riders in the world, arguably the most charismatic too is unable to secure a ride for next year and in some ways, coerced into retirement. I hope he finds a role somewhere, he would be a fantastic "face" of a company. The content would be top level. Jack is majorly responsible for MTB in Australia spreading so far, his influence on youngsters and his personal approach to grassroots racing that I have seen first hand is commendable. He truly is one of...
