Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Winner is whoever has the least amount of loctite on the main pivot bolt.
The frame storage on the Druid is on the bottom of the downtube, just above the BB. Maybe the same here?
Is it just me or does it look like it might have and adjustable seat tube angle like the new Pivot Shuttle LT?
That's just their seat tube design. Seat tube area is more of an oval. Also wouldn't make sense on a bike they probably want to make as light as they can otherwise.
Forbidden bikes have kinda wide and shallow down tube so the usual storage would not fit there. While that keeps the silhouette of the bike visually light, the location around the BB area made me totally ignore the storage compartment on my V2 Druid. It is kinda useless...
Same, it's a bit of a waste.
Hot take but I hope the Forbidden bike doesn’t have internal storage. I’ve never owned a bike with internal storage. Also never carry ANY tools with me (I don’t really go on huge rides) I probably have to walk back to the car once every couple of years. Bikes are pretty good these days. Im biased but I don’t get too turned on by internal storage.
Anyways, would a XC/DC bike be the perfect candidate for internal storage or nah? The whole point is to be light. Seems like skipping it would mean a lighter bike, easier to manufacture, less parts to break, cheaper overall for the consumer (in a perfect world) But DC bikes are kinda the perfect epic big ride type of bikes, comfy enough but light enough to go on big missions. So is the ability to hold tools and snacks worth the cost/weight/parts if you’re getting way the hell out there? Would be a good poll question.
You're an amateur. I carry a ton of tools, but every other year or so something goes so horribly wrong I STILL have to walk back to the car.
Bikes are pretty good though.
My proudest trailside repair was actually roadside...blew a shifter cable 40 miles from home on a cold February day on my gravel bike. I had an extra cable in my little revelate gas tank bag. Fixed it, rode home.
Bosch fast charger coming later this year - 12amps. CX and CXR firmware update in May bumping torque and power to compete with Avinox and Specialized.
Also TQ full power motor later this year.
Fairly reliable source told me the new Santa Cruz Nomad will look like the new Bronson and Hightower. The Megatower is dead. Wasn’t able to confirm if the Nomad will be officially dual crown compatible. Anyone got anything since those alu mule dual crown photos?
Reya could be the perfect bike. #rearcenter
should be around sea otter, starts 16th of april.
To me, it seems weird they released the Current Bosch motor at 85Nm/600w And now able to bump it to match Avinox - were they just waiting to see if any laws came etc? or didnt want to show the hand to fast?
Im running mine in tour 99% of the time at 85nm which feels great - owned the Amflow but I feel like the bike/frame itself is a bit meh and i doubt it would be popular without the avinox system - the 120nm boost and 1000w is just mental and Found i dont keep myself warm enough in the high powerd modes - also, It seems to drain its battery really quick.
any rumor of what Amp charger they are coming out with?
When the gen 5 launched it was known almost immediately that the 100nm/750w update would be coming. So I think it was always designed around those numbers. I think the hardware is almoster certainly able to pump out more so I think it's smart of Bosch to sit back and see where the market goes and adjust accordingly. I do think they need to come out with new slim batteries at some point however. I think there's a large section of the market not keen on large downtubes and Avinox is giving them what they want (and more performance on top).
More Reya pics if anyone is interested. I reckon vital editors have them too, but they can’t post them. Source
If it rides as well as it looks, then it should be a damn good bike 🤩
I'm super curious to hear the ride reports. If Forbidden nailed the ride traits and geo I'm def eyeing this as a replacement for my V4s Ripley.
Seen a couple of listings for a Reverb AXS B2 - the new one last year was the B1 - anyone know if there's any actual differences?
Since it is my 40th birthday today, I may just order the that frame if it’s available tomorrow.
The post itself is unchanged. They just changed the battery charger from micro-usb to usb-c. Good riddance.
"B2 generation changed from Micro-USB charger to USB-C charger included. No change to the seatpost itself."

Crazy that the second gen wasn’t usb-c to begin with
Nah, they just wanted to see how much kick back there was aginst Hans' article. 😂
That short seat tube insertion though :c
One of the problems with Forbidden I keep hearing about is seat post insertion depth. Those pictures dont look too promising for much of an improvement.
Looks like a sick bike otherwise. if I hadn't just built up a smuggler this would probably be near the top of the list.
Melamed talking a bit about the new Maxxis casings,
sounds like they are not far from the release anymore.

I have a V1 Druid S2 and my 185mm BikeYoke is fully slammed so the cable housing bottoms out to be at the right height at full extension. Definitely a downside that longer droppers don't fit. Although that probably shouldn't matter as much on a Reya. Most people probably don't need quite as long a dropper on a light trail bike. It does seem strange to put such a large seatpost bend in a Horst link bike though.
I heard it was gonna launch at Sea Otter but someone else is launching their new fork before so they had to change it.
Idk. I’d argue that the people who are choosing this over say an epic evo or whatever other flexstay bike are the type of people that absolutely want the longest post possible on their “XC” bike. Does seem like a bit of a miss knowing who their target market is.
Ask and thou shalt receive :-) I posted this topic as a poll on the homepage today, inspired by your post (on the right side if you scroll down a bit, in case you've not seen that before).
Also FYI, you can create a poll post here in the forum if you want to as well!
Need another option:
* I have it but don't use it
I'll preface this by saying, I've never owned/ridden a bike with a dropper longer than 175mm. I've had 2 AXS reverb in rotation on various bikes for the last few years, Evil Offering, Specialized Enduro, Epic Evo, Neuhaus Hummingbird, Specialized Stumpjumper, and Transition Spur. And I have ridden fairly gnarly trails with those posts, Pisgah, Kingdom Trails, Phoenix, Sedona, and Iceland.
I cannot recall a single time when I had my seatpost completely dropped and thought, "man, I wish this were a little lower." Similarly, I've never had a crash or close call where I thought the seat's height was the culprit. I know MOAR is always better, so maybe I don't know what I'm missing, but I've never considered seat post insertion in any of my frame choices in the last 5+ years.
