The XX chain or any of the transmission chains are insanely hard wearing and very strong overall. I have 3 seasons on one that came with the XX groupset and still can't measure any hint of wear using the latest gauges. Probably close to 160,000+M in vert and thousands of kilometers on the MTB. I think they really meant it when they say this system will last the lifetime of the bike.
The new SRAM Transmission chains should be replaced sooner than most classic chain checkers indicate to prevent wearing into the cassette which in SRAM's case is frighteningly expensive to replace.

Yes on the XX chains, not so much with GX. I wear out a GX transmission chain in ~1,500 miles on a pedal bike and 1,000 miles on an ebike.

Gotta say, while not a huge specialized fan, there was a while there where i had to be like, don’t love em, but no denying they are doing good shit, but i think the stumpy and all their recent e-bikes have really missed the mark.
I’m sure the new demo will be good, but that was developed back when all the good shit was being developed.
Wonder if there were big changes over there, or they just missed.
It would seem they've lost the plot entirely. Hard to believe that they went from fairly revolutionary designs ( for their time ) like the enduro and kenevo sl, to well polished garbage like the levo 4.
Only thing I can think of is that they're running a very long (6 year) design cycle or something. Hopefully they buy a little credibility back by releasing the downhill bike soon.

Isn't the issue with long-wearing chains that they are part of a system, and if the chain is too hard, it will eat away at the cassette more quickly once it wears?

Same here, GX chains appear to be made out of some kind of cheese and the XX chains are adamantium or something...
Have XO transmission, been on it since launch. Replace chain and chainring every spring, after about 2200-2400km riding. Cassette shows minimal wear still.
Has SRAM or anyone else announced what hubs will be available with this new "XD Slim" driver body? Maybe I'm missing something in the flood of product announcements, but I don't think I've seen that.

Nothing at launch, but it does sound like a few will have hubs soonish.

For both brands, you should always buy the most expensive chain they sell, so XX and XTR as the harder coatings on them often double to triple the usage you can get out of them, more than offsetting the cost increase.
Zero friction cycling has the data, but XX flat top chains in particular are the cheapest chain per mile you will find.

So far I can't find the specific dimensional differences published anywhere. SRAM does say the XD Slim driver should fit existing DH hubs that use a 7-speed HG freehub body, so maybe someone can backwards engineer the difference from there.

If you hate all their other new stuff and how much it costs, just wait until you see the pricing on that new Demo... it's not going to be nice.
Soon, you'll be able to buy a new vehicle and live like you did when you were 20 and your bike was 3x more expensive than your car. Maybe they'll roll out a subscription service for the suspension system Loic is running. Every bike will come equipped with it, but you have to pay for every level of adjustment.
I'm also sorry if I put a thought in a product manager head with that. Please never do this. It's my red stapler.

Betting the Sworks version will start around 10. I’d imagine some special edition will roll out and be limited edition, and a couple grand more.
New stuff ain’t cheap these days and it’s only going to get more spendy.

There's a new RockShox spare parts catalog out, and there's some nice vice blocks listed in the new Boxxer section.
Their description gives this text:
10 mm for Pike / SID / Lyrik / ZEB air shaft, Charger damper shaft, 14 mm for Lyrik / ZEB / BoXXer air shaft, 25 mm for Rush Damper IFP, 27.3 mm for Charger RC Damper IFP, 29.06 mm for Charger 3.2 Damper IFP, 30.6 mm for Lyrik Twin Tube, 34 mm for ZEB / BoXXer Twin Tube, 20 mm for ButterCup
To me, that sounds like Zeb and Lyrik will get this new sleeved air spring from the new Boxxer.

your currency is not much worth anymore, it lost like 25% in just 4 years against the swiss franc, what do you people expect things to cost when you import everything and the fascist king wants his cut on top?

Threaded #24: a modern guide to measuring chain wear
Commercial posted new Meta SX on Avinox on their website site, without mentioning what motor there will be, but something else caught my eye:
ROCKSHOX Zeb Ultimate 170 mm
29", damper 3.2, HSC, LSC, HSR, LSR, Boost (15 x 110 mm), 44 mm offset
https://www.commencal.com/us/en/BT6MSXPWDJRSUS1.html?lang=en_US
Wonder if that’s a typo, as current chargers don’t have a separate HSR/LSR, nor does the new boxxer one

It might be because that’s one of the very few downhill bikes that doesn’t have an adjustable chain stay that uses an axle flip chip

I would not trust Zero friction cycling data; here is why: https://www.hambini.com/the-murky-world-of-zfc-zero-friction-cycling-botched-testing-frigged-results/.

If it’s basically a similar layout to the Fox 38‘s air spring, that’s great news
Let's hope the new air springs are backwards compatible. Rockshox are generally pretty good in that regard, so we shall see.
Just as Fox take the 38 in the other direction!
Didn’t know that!
Glidecore and no inner sleeve anymore?

I miss the days of Swiss neutrality...
Link please? I can only find the 2026 catalogue.
no worries, i'm german.
¡Jawohl!
