I'll eat a YT warranty frame if that's true (trick question, YT warranty frames don't exist!)

Is it YT in the EWS or the return of the Mob to DH?
They did say "see you in 2023" when they left WC DH in what, 2019?

The Mob left WC DH last offseason.

That would be mindblowing…Jack is doing quite well on the Strive and the Team is fun to follow. Time will tell I guess

Canyon EWS team have some of the worst contracts out there. He is possibly getting a fraction of his worth.

After Intense he was lucky to get a spot somewhere at all (which has nothing to do with his performance). Now he can choose wisely and select the best package for himself.

I believe Moir had a factory spot at Cannondale lined up to ride their new DH frame, then they bailed out of DH and left him high and dry. That's why he went "full enduro".

He was usually around top 10 in DH, with a 2nd in Ft Bill being his best.

Seems to like where he's at, but no idea on the $. His current mechanic is a former YT mob mechanic, so there could be some connection there.

You'd think that guy in particular would be wary about jumping on a brand new program.

i have no idea if the jack rumor is true, but YT's race presence is virtually non-existent these days. check out our reader survey data from the last 10 years. in 2018, YT was one of the top bikes to buy for those intending on buying a new bike. over the years they've declined significantly. does lack of racing presence have anything to do with that? i realize there are PLENTY of other factors here, but some podiums and press may not hurt?

I know it doesn't look as nice, but is it possible to do marker shapes instead of marker/line colors when it comes to multi-line graphs? This is just a bunch of squigly lines for me (and I guess the rest of the 10 % color blind men and a few women out there)...

Yeah, offtopic, sorry...

I don't know if them backing out of racing has as much to do with that as the pandemic years.. Many smaller companies had it hatd over those years. They may have sold everything they had, but they couldn't get more as bigger fish gobbled up the components... And, it seems that quality and customer service might be a bit lacking...

any rumors of EWS racers getting a shot at a rainbow jersey in 2023? XC world champs is in the Tweed Valley Aug 12, would seem like a perfect opportunity to bring enduro into the World Champs fold. there is no EWS race that weekend.

Wasn’t Norco thrown out a while ago? Just memory, nothing at all to validate it.

That makes for some super interesting reading. Where would you position the Vital readership in the mtb buyers foodchain (with the Rose Hued at the bottom obvs)?

A German website ran a rumours article where they stated that it is very likely that yt will re-enter both enduro and downhill with a factory team and that Moir has been associated with the enduro team. Also possibly Angel back to the yt DH team with commencal folding one of their teams.

Other rumour was Martin Whiteley to return with a team. Likely Devinchi or Propain.

It would be a pretty big deal if he switched, IIRC he's been on Rocky since he was 16 or so, almost half his life...

Jesse has tested the waters with everyone who has enough $ to afford him. Where he ends up is anyones guess

Yes, YT, cannondale and Santa Cruz are all bringing proper teams to EWS 2023

The rocky team also has had a buddy/good times vibe for so long it would be a shame for that team to change drastically, but at this point I'm sure he's got some big options. Rocky is a pretty small company compared to some of the others, especially since they dumped their city and road lines to focus on mountain, and unless the other sponsors are footing the bill they may not have the budget to hold him long term. He's got to do him. I remember in the last couple seasons rocky re-upped the team so I wonder when that's up.

And since he's likely reading this, congrats Jesse!

With rocky's current pricing they probably only need to sell like an extra 3 bikes a year to cover a pay bump for Jesse.

A huge change while you are successful might well be financially rewarding but may not end up to be the best move results-wise. The likes of Sam Hill and Aaron Gwin can give some food for thought but here's an example from the EWS itself:

Jared Graves dominated enduro in 2014 and 2015 aboard a Yeti, which has been his bike sponsor for nearly a decade. After a much-talked about move to Specialized in 2016, his results were not the same.

The SB6c was definitely a big difference design-wise to the Spez Enduro back in 2016 (i.e. Yeti was half a degree slacker and had a longer wheelbase, chainstay length of the SB6C was 442mm while the Spez was 429mm). He also moved to new components like RockShox + SRAM. In my opinion, the bike just didn't click with Jared.

To be fair, Jared has had his share of injuries in addition to a bout against cancer (which he won, thank goodness). He also failed a doping test, as everyone knows.

You're right, I had forgotten about that. Was it because he wanted to ride 29" wheels?

Jared shared his experiences in a podcast and was honest about the up and downs. I am trying to recall that the tires were the main issue. They were allowed to use only Spezi tyres and they did not work at all e.g. flat tyres and some mud races.

Furthermore, the team structure was not the one that he was looking for.

Damn, look at Specialized. That's an absolutely massive decline over the last 10 years.

Doesn't pay after all to sell hilariously overpriced bikes that break all the god damn time (e.g.: Specialized Enduro).

Or Santa Cruz, down from 10% to 5%. That's what you get for trying to sell lukewarm designs for stupid money.

Well good to see Canyon and Commencal up there. Riders finally decided to stick it to the greedy "premium brands".
