The system is based on all the sections of the track run with different suspension settings, and Loic has planned out the perfect settings for each section. And when he press on, the "timer" is sett to change to where Loic should be for the perfect run, "1.23 I will be entering the woods, i want this setting", "2:30 rockgarden, This setting", etc. or something like that. They must have enough data to figure it out, but would it be possible? Within the rule book?

Geez, is it that hard? Loic has been running that setup for a whole year at least. The shock -and in some venues, also the fork- has a pedal and an open mode, he can engage any of them with the push of a button on the handlebar. The main reason for that big ass green button is for him to avoid messing up with it and involuntarily push it while traversing the rougher parts of a track. Previously he had a tiny red LED on top of it. I guess he figured out he needed something easier to spot.

I heard through the grape vine in the pits that his front brake wasn’t working after the crash, causing his DNF. Could be wrong, but I would not want to ride down the rest of the track on just a rear brake.

In my opinion, TREK could have made their design even simpler, lighter and better looking by using a non-Trunnion shock since they would have had ample space to do so if they had installed the shock lower/on the downtube instead of making a lower shock mount like that. Is it because it's easier to market with the "Trunnion shock" line in the specs?

I can hear people saying that Trunnion mounts are not a big deal when the frames are well aligned, but my experience is that most frames i've bought were misaligned and had to be sent back for a replacement. And it seems to get worse with years. For this reason, I still won't buy a frame with a Trunnion mount shock, and I will keep inspecting the new frames I buy to make sure they're straight. Sorry. Just my 0.02$.
They also have that Thru-shaft shock tech they love to dump off on unexpecting buyers so they have to use trunion for the shock to fit and work within the package they want. I imagine this has something to do with the frame mounting locations and the design that followed for this new model.

My 0.02¢ the only selling point for this hideous bike will be that some will be in stock at some point and that's worth more currently than looks. Yah f*cked this one up Trek

He said as much (on WynTV I think)

If I were Loic, I wouldn't spend one microsecond looking at the handlebar for some indicator while riding mach chicken down the woods.

and thats why you're not loic, Remember for athletes like this things happen slower. So your own mach chicken is probably snails pace to them

Funny, if you dive way back into the archives, I asked what the collective thought about running some kind of system like this. If memory serves, I asked this after a racer was way up in a run, crashed, and could have toned back their run to safely take the win. People were not happy with my question Wink I *think* there is a rule about this however? Or at least you couldn't run a radio in your helmet?

Interesting times...
The Sunn Chipie team used to do that with Nicolas Vouilloz back in the day if I remember correctly. Not electronically but with people on the side of the track. Max Commencal, BOS and that team were so ahead of the times and with the super talented riders they had it's not surprising they dominated the way they did.

The grapevine being him literally flicking his front brake then shrugging after the crash? Telling Wyn in plain english that he didn't have front brake? Don't pretend you're more connected than you are.

What does anything you said have to do with tech rumors?

Exactly look at what his lever did to a boulder on the track

A bit of a look at the rear end of Forbidden's DH bike. Looks like it has modular dropouts and a pivot on the seat stay.

Let’s file that under the snowshoe info bubble. The lack of cell service around the mountain is certainly a challenge.

Looks like some of the forbidden guys were on mullet setups and others were on full 29ers.

I saw Finn’s mechanic riding his bike around after morning practice on Saturday and there was definitely some movement under or around the BB area. If I’d have to guess it’s going to have a similar axle path to Niko’s mid pivot bike. Or a variable pivot like a VPP or similar dual link setup.

Ease up Champ,
Not everyone watched the race, and this was a fairly insightful bit of info. I certainly didn’t think to myself, man this guys connected and knows some inside info.

Cheer up and go for a ride

Apologies if this is old news... but on JGraves' latest IG story, it shows RR with a dpx2..? looking RAD shock. Genuinely shocked to see them riding anything but a high volume air shock in Whistler.

There have been quite a few issues reported with the X2 in the last few years so I'm not that surprised.

It's the Fox proto electronic shock.

don‘t think the sponsored Pro‘s have a lot of trouble with their X2s… they‘re gettin serviced way more often then those of us weekend warriors.

Eddie Masters also posted on IG some photos but the shock area was covered with emojis. Jordi said that they are working on something and Jesse/Eddie tested the product in Europe/NA.

as stated before, they (jesse, eddie, richie) are on the newest fox live valve shock (electronic) for testing reasons.

That aluminium, machined Range-esque proto from Whistler? Apparently (based on PB Mt. St. Anne video) Kirk Mcdowall ran it in Snowshoe?

So what? Possibility for different hubs or different length of the chainstay?
What's the DH's geo like? Is it close to the Dreadnought's? Is the seattube angle steep? Would it be pedalable, even if not as good as the enduro model?

PB's Mont Saint Anne Pits video stated that some riders were on full 29 and some riders were on mullet setups so maybe it has something to do with maintaining geometry between wheel sizes.
No idea on geo, but as mentioned/seen there is a pivot in the back so its possible the suspension (and pedal-ability) will be very different from the Druid/Dreadnought

Is Richie running a Float X, and not a DPX2? I think someone here previously mentioned that there were also issues with the DPX2 (tune?) which gave way to the Float X replacing it as the more 'enduro' model. Could be that Live Valve is coming to the Float X to separate it more from the 'DH' Float X2.

It’s the electronic proto that has been mentioned like 4 times now

Maybe I read your comment wrong, but I think the poster is just making note of the modular dropouts, and what appears to be an additional pivot, that’s different from what Forbidden has previously done….
This seems like the place to make note of that, but I’m not sure how the OP would know the geo details, etc, unless they are one of a handful of guys that have access to Forbiddens new, unreleased DH bike…

Gwin is not in a normal Bell Full-9 Helmet:

vents above goggle are bigger, mouth piece is different, central vent under visor, and side vents at top on sides. New Thor Lid? Don't think I see anything under their moto llids either.

New Bell dh helmet. Danny’s also in it. Amaury’s been in and out of it since Christmas.

I wasn’t sure either, was just asking - may be he saw it on social media and copied it here, may be he was there and he was the one taking the picture. Sorry if my comment sounded aggressive - didn’t want it to sound like this.
I know of the additional pivot - that’s why asking about the DH. I really like Forbidden’s design, but have a negative thing for single pivots, even if they are high pivot. The DH appears to be a reversed horst-link or virtual pivot, depends on what they will call it! Sounds like the Forbidden frame for me, but i was asking about pedalling cause the years are counting and i’m not getting any younger - i want a superenduro frame in my life. But one that can take a DC fork up front. Not many of these around, so would like a pedalable DH-frame as well - that’s easier! Wink
