My guess was Evil. They haven't seemed to do much of anything new in a while...unless I just missed it. Them shutting down would be a bummer. If I'm opening up my considerations for a future short travel trail bike to include the Superboost malarkey then I could potentially be talked into The Following LS. It seems like a really awesome bike. ...but then again when was the last time anyone saw someone riding a Niner?

I was actually in talks to do some contract work at Pinkbike on their buy/sell page, but they stopped responding after looking thru my comment history. Then I got permanently banned.

I don't contest that people have had bad experiences with a Zeb, or any of the forks in this test. Shoot, I compared two bikes a few years ago that both had FOX Factory 36's, 150mm w/ Grip2, and the difference in stiction, air pressure, and damper settings was wild. However, I'll put my foot down and say that we don't give a sh*t about marketing hype. We like to know what a brand has done and why so that we can substantiate their claims on the trail. But we (Vital editorial crew) care way more about trying to give...

The Formula Belva really blew it with the internals that can’t accommodate heavier riders. Target market for a dual crown fork on an enduro is big humans. Bummed.

Yup, no Manitou, EXT, Push, Intend, Bright Racing, MRP, or Temu knock-offs. But that just means they're on the list to review in the future 🤙

I've been considering a steel full suspension frame from a small builder for my next FS bike. It's been a long time since I've been so intrigued by a bike as I am that Apogee.

That would make a ton of sense. Looks like September is going to be a big month for this threadh! Smile Regarding the Troy, FWIW, I was told the color ways are going to be Silver and "Matcha". The matcha color can already be seen on the chainSaw on their website site. Alloy frame with In frame storage, welded in Canada, that's going to differentiate them nicely

I think mechanical t-type is inevitable. There is a schematic for frames on the UDH website that includes a cable stop. Posted a pic of it months ago. I can try to find it again when I get back to my computer.

I've been away for a while, so not checking regularly for a couple weeks, so I spent a couple hours trying to catch up, prolly 12 or so pages the content and tone of comments has changed drastically in the last year. I can only assume with increased users and engagement, which has brought along with it, a much more negative and judgy tone. I was drawn to this comment section for the rumours and innovation (and spy shots, and great info from the likes or TEAMROBOT, Cascade, Dave, and many others) but I find myself turned off by the...

Because I would need a battery-powered motor to " ride" back uphill. I'm not against ebikes, I'll probably get one at some point because my trails are perfect for it, but you can't gloss over the undeniable difference between motor-powered (don't give me the "it's just an assist" argument) and regular bikes. They're different categories of mtb and, relative to not having a motor, having a motor is cheating if you're comparing it to experiences without one.

It is always the mid size companies that struggle when times get hard. They have all the overheads of a larger company but without any of the economies of scale. They are too mainstream for the hardcore enthusiast but too niche for the everyday punter. I'm thinking Propain,Transition,Ibis, Pivot etc.

For number 3. Jeff I actually think it's fragmenting a bit differently. Were seeing consolidation by the big brands, PON, Trek, Specialized and Giant but at the same time, there are so many boutique brands doing (comparatively) tiny runs of bikes that are eating into the commercial small to mid-sized brand market that is causing headaches. Lots of tiny brands like Chromag (for frames) RAAW, Cotic etc are taking that 5-10% from mid sized brands that they need to survive. My prediction is we will see a market of the big 4(5/6?) brands with total security, and a boutique market...
