BlownOutRides Added a comment about press release DHaRCO Launches the Enduro Bib with Built-in Back Protector
3/15/2026 12:59pm Would've been interested but that back pad looks micro. One size definitely does not fit all. If your shorts are a different size your back is too.

1/27/2026 5:20pm The line of allowable motor assist has hereby been moved to include a very small motor. -Pious Pedal Puritans The ebike equivalent of shaking the bed. "Just the tip, just for a second, just to see how it feels."

BlownOutRides Added a reply to Clipless Pedals Thread
2/1/2025 12:39am Mallet DH fan for years until snapping two spindles on two separate occasions on pretty mild hucks. Seat straight to nuts both times. No bueno. Saw that the Hope pedals had great reviews so gave them a whirl and am pretty stoked so far. They feel like mallets once clipped in but are way easier to get clipped in to...

BlownOutRides Added a comment about bike check Mistress
12/24/2024 6:06am Dang! Standard geo is 505cs 677s you went 525cs 714s that is wild. Also 6’4 and currently on a V2 dreadnought. The crap geo that the industry pushes on tall folks is criminal.

8/28/2024 9:02am The Formula Belva really blew it with the internals that can’t accommodate heavier riders. Target market for a dual crown fork on an enduro is big humans. Bummed.

BlownOutRides Added a reply to Poll: Electric shifting vs mechanical shifting
7/29/2024 6:43pm I feel like there’s an argument for a 10sp ebike specific drivetrain with a burlier chain. Positive I’ve never seen that 52t cog on the eeb and it’s possible I haven’t touched the 44t either.
BlownOutRides Added a comment about feature Inside Specialized – A Closer Look at How the Big-S Develops Mountain Bikes
7/23/2024 1:11pm Congrats - you’re the S4 / L size they’re designing the frame geo around. Tall and short riders aren’t getting the same F/R weight distribution your frame was designed to have. There’s no reason a proportional rear center can’t be baked into the front triangles via moving pivot points back, and those are already unique anyway so no cost add from a manufacturing standpoint. What it DOES mean is that the bike company has to design a suspension layout that can be packaged into the smallest size frame, rather than designing for the S4/L size and just copy pasting into...

7/23/2024 5:08am With all the tech and testing and prototyping why are they still serving up the same chainstay lengths to every size frame? Yes, some models get adjusted by a few mm to claim “size specific” but not nearly proportional to the M or L geo that these guys are so rigorously testing.

BlownOutRides Added a comment about feature Head to Head: Rocky Mountain Altitude vs Santa Cruz Megatower
7/15/2024 3:22pm Tall folks have only had proportionally small chainstays to choose from for a long, long time. As a tall rider yourself I’d be stoked to hear your takeaways from riding a bike like the Dreadnought or Druid in XL with a proportional F/R center ratio similar to what most companies are doing for their M/L sizes.

BlownOutRides Added a comment about feature Head to Head: Rocky Mountain Altitude vs Santa Cruz Megatower
7/15/2024 3:15pm Same size as you but messed up and got the XXL Megatower which was a massive mistake. Front center overwhelmed the rear center and felt super unbalanced. Great in a straight line but cornering was a nightmare with so little weight on the front. If I’d stuck with the XL I can imagine it would probably still be in my garage and I’d feel the same way you do about the handling. Build quality was absolutely top notch and everything just screamed “refined” from a design and engineering standpoint. Hopefully they start to stretch out those rear centers in proportion...

BlownOutRides Added a comment about feature YT Goes Supernatural: Introducing the 160mm/20kg Decoy SN
7/10/2024 2:25pm Emtb is chairlift skiing but the lift only brings you halfway up and you have to hike the rest. You can do twice the laps for the same time and very similar effort. It’s fun as f*ck. If you’re just in it for the workout, the regular bike makes way more sense. But if you’re doing it to have fun, the ebike straight up doubles it. The fast guys who do tricks on their regular bikes go downhill just as fast and do the same tricks on their e-bikes. The ebikes cost more though, which makes a lot of people...

BlownOutRides Added a comment about feature YT Goes Supernatural: Introducing the 160mm/20kg Decoy SN
7/9/2024 6:52pm 443mm chainstays for everyone. If the L had the same F/R center ratio as the XXL, the L would get 419mm chainstays. If the L had the same F/R center ratio as the S, the L would get 470mm chainstays. Any L size riders want to drop $8,500 on a bike with 470mm or 419mm chainstays?
