it would be REALLY GREAT then, if you would have better moderation tools and better quote tools for us? for example, other forums, with proper forum software, can split whole discussions from existing threads and move them over to another thread to continue there. here, you just delete it and alle the info is lost. also it would be really great for readability if we could quote certain parts of a post, and not only the whole post.

Following a single thread was very convenient. Probably why this thread was so successful. Can we just start a single new thread - tech rumors 2025 or whatever?

Maah no frickel gate, no shiny coffe machines nor spy shots… everyone is so correct in 2026. No podcasts with some spicy insider information.

We’ve all seen Dak ride some bullshit products over the years. I don’t think the Scott would slow him down but I can already feel the cringe imagining him having to talk about how he “honestly” loves integrated shocks and stems and shimano brakes. That being said the boy deserves a fatty paycheck. Do what you need to do Dak!

Likely just an easy number to move towards. It's not too big (36) but enough of a jump in size to make people think its better. Pure marketing. 29" kind of made sense, it was already the same rim and tire diameter as road bikes, so making that jump for manufactures of wheels and tires, well all they really needed to do was make there 26" wheels and tires on machines they kind of already had. Remember, this was when MTB rims were huge if they were 25mm wide. And when that kind of stalled, they introduced 27.5 as an...

Once we get a new axle standard to stiffen up the huge wheels, we surely know that the history repeats itself

Lots of dh guys say full 29 is faster. Just mullet is so much easier for them to make adjustments and limit mistakes that they choose to run the mullet. Xc is an hr long plus race. I’m sure we’ll see some people throw away a result in the first seasons of 32 wheels. But I’d imagine most the field will be on them once they can. The same way everyone ended up on 29. Think it’s likely 32 will also lead to mullet setups being allowed in xc which was pointed out to me as not currently being legal...

Exactly, Thom Weisel / Lance Armstrong engaged in some pretty amazing insurance fraud in that manner, betting for and against themselves by rigging the game. I love re-watching the tapes from those depositions! But Gates, while they make decent parts for excavators and automobiles, has been trying for more than 15 years to get traction in the bike world. They never will though, because belts are incredibly stupid for the application, and universally despised by anyone who has ever dealt with them. Gearboxes with a chain? sign me up though!

I really wish Michelin still made the wild rock’r. It was a great tire but especially good on the rear. Conti kryptotal is a solid consolation

I think Kryptotal Rear in Soft beats anything, both stopping-power wise and longevity.

With mavens in my opinion is either SLV/ULT or nothing I like having the bite point adjuster to tune them, they can be too aggressive otherwise I did not like the bronze but I do like the silvers

@Downtime Podcast Been busy and have sporadically been able to follow the thread. I haven’t listened to the DT podcast. Haven’t listened to Brines debrief. But I do know this. MF asked/paid Chris to provide a platform. Chris did that. Jumping on Chris for not asking the right questions is crap. MF was on the back foot from the company crisis. Chris didn’t put him there. MF had every opportunity to at least clear the air and admit wrongdoing. At any point during the pod MF could have said “Let me say this about that”. MF had an open mic...

How many people do you really think there are listening to Downtime that don't already know what's going on with YT? If you're nerdy enough to be listening to a mtb podcast with the owner of a bike company, there's a pretty reasonable chance you've already got a base level understanding of what's happening.

There's more than one way to skin a cat. You don't have to deliver a Stephen Sackur HARDtalk style aggressive rebuttal based interview to provide insight. You can just let your interviewee make his case, ask the questions and let him respond. Give him the rope as they say. For anyone complaining about the interview, who has listened to it and thought Flossman came of well? Do you really think anyone out there thinks that? Chris let him make his case, and he sounds incredibly tone deaf and has confirmed to all of us the naive incompetent narcissist that he...

You're very entitled to your own opinion, but I didn't hear the same contradictions you did. I've re-listened multiple times this morning and I still can't hear it the way you have. I heard Markus say they knew they were facing tough times but weren't expecting the PE firm to get to a point where they aren't willing to inject cash. The Fire Sale was an effort to get through that specific period without having to ask for more cash. That failed and then they were told 'no more'. As for your previous point, it's not exactly clear to me...
