The Fluid is, in my opinion, a bike that was almost completely ignored by consumers when it really shouldn't have been. I reviewed it for another site and it blew me away, and indeed others who rode it. A former colleague and I still regard it as one of the best trail bikes we've ever ridden. So much fun to ride. I wanted to try something else so didn't end up buying one (ironic given my point I guess!) but it is genuinely a brilliant, brilliant bike. There isn’t a downside, you would get more dropper insertion with the new design. They also made the LR more linear progressive instead of the ramp at the last 1/3rd. Owen told me they did that because shocks didn’t have HBO when they started designing the V2. With the HBO they didn’t need that ramp anymore and were limited on how much they could make the LR more linear, with how deep in the design cycle they were. They also have a less rearward axle path with V2 ~22mm and the new E being ~18mm.

I can imagine for a lot of sponsors it's important to be on exactly the correct model year colours, build kits etc. Especially a high profile team like syndicate. One interesting thing I noticed with PFR is they're often not all on latest model/top spec bikes. Training bikes with older groups yes, e bikes being previous models

The S01E is laser cut, and works fine, although for bigger pads like V4, the bottom of the pad is slightly hanging under the braking surface. The S05 is better in that regard. I would stay away from the Shark 223mm, had a pair for a season and the problem is that the tiny holes "line up", as in they're always on the same radius from the center of the rotor/hub. Their enduro team was done last year but they graciously kept me on board for this year with my contract having another year on it. Sounds obvious of course, but the bike industry isn't always so giving. The DH team took me in and I had a blast all year long, which was the main reason for doing DH at the end of the year. I just wanted to hang out with the team some more, and who wouldn't take the chance to race World Cup DH while they can. As for next year, stay tuned.

34,9 mm is not a dropper post related standard. I had a Scott Scale back in my xc racing days in 2005 that had a 34,9 mm seatpost. As for binding and bushing overlap and the like, there are very few dropper posts that have a 34,9 mm specific upper (Bikeyoke Max series) as opposed to just running a thicker lower/outer tube with the rest of the parts the same as with 30,9 and 31,6 mm posts.

Grease goes between the shim and the post, carbon assembly paste goes between the shim and the frame. Never had an issue with slip or creaks from this area. I own four 30.9 posts and just shim for everything when swapping bikes, if required.
