SRAM and Shimano engage in price fixing Liked a reply to forum topic MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation

Just a reminder that the actual conspiracy is SRAM selling heavily discounted electronic groupsets to component integrato... I mean "bike brands" knowing that consumers will be on the hook for their shitty, high margin proprietary batteries and chargers. Nothing says improving the environment and sustainability like planned obsolescence and more e-waste. Social Responsibility btw: https://www.sram.com/en/company/about/social-responsibility

Just clamp the bike in the stand and you don’t need to remove a regular fork for service either…?

For inverted forks I clamp the stanchions in the bike stand and remove the bike.

Screw that, I don't want to have to disconnect my brake hose just to mount it to a fork. I hate the internally routed rear enough.

Which is exactly the sticker they'd put on it if they wanted to deceive us about the real stanchion size...

I heavily considered: Orbea “downgraded” the Occam to include internal cable routing.

again, what does it matter if the whole field loses stack height? no one has answered this question. we trade watts for rollover if the field finds 32 to be advantageous enough. people are talking like they have ran the tests but it simply comes down to the efficiency of the larger wheel vs power lost through geo changes. obviously this will be course and rider dependent but saying "less power in that position" doesn't account for the rest of the equation. and "fit" in terms of rider preference of what feels nice, well those XC bikes aint ergo so...

So your friend just jams in a hub that is 9mm wider than the chainstays are designed for? What shop does he work at? Just so I can make sure I never go there.

In the US sales tax varies from locale to locale. If I buy something where I'm at the tax (local plus state plus federal) might be say 10 percent but if I go over to somewhere else it might be 9 percent. When I buy online tax is calculated for the zip code of my billing address so the tax will still vary by a couple of a percent depending on where I'm at. Because of that it hard to get used to other places like the EU where VAT is just there but doesn't vary. Like the metric system...

Not including sales tax always seems like a dumb thing to do. At least to everyone else in the world. What you see is what you pay, that makes more sense.
