It’s almost like people prefer different things out of their brakes and that it would be beneficial to the company to provide as many different lever feels out of a brake as possible. What a novel concept! The fact that they can provide as many different options with the same general architecture is a sign of some pretty damn good engineering, and I want to highlight when things are done well in the bike industry. I like the feel of Mavens as is, so does everyone I talk to. Some people might not and guess what? All those opinions are...

I dunno, 2.5 lbs between Stumpjumper Carbon an alloy is pretty damn noticeable. If I’m the average stumpy buyer I’d much rather have nx on a carbon frame than gx on a alloy frame. Especially since derailleurs wear out/break and I can just get a GX at that point.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I want a podium just to slap on a set of these and relive my 2002 childhood dreams

I'm going with fender integration. And/or bike rack protection. It has depth, yet is hollow.

My mind went to something for the fender, too. Some form of friction fit that snaps over this?

E-bikes and relatively low power lightweight electric motorcycles will be the main transportation method for large parts of the world. Imagine replacing every 2 stroke engine in a Vietnamese city with something clean. Once the tech is affordable enough it would mean a massive improvement in air quality and noise. So what’s a niche or recreational market in some places can be the norm in others.

Why? It's a $14,000 Yeti e-bike, if $220 for bearings is an issue then its not the bike for you to begin with. There's also bikes out there with half as many bearings that cost even more for a kit because of the stupid sizes they use. It's crazy how people will complain about those kinds of costs but will happily destroy the XX1 groupset in 500k because they cheaped out on chain lube.....

i added to my post above with more clarification, FYI. IMO it doesn't come down to shimano (or any brand launching a product) being the problem in this case. they have a launch coming up (they said, june 5). they have to get their product and info in the right places before the launch. it's a kook or two at these places (OE, shops, brands, media, who knows) who are posting things they don't have a right to post. if shimano asks vital to remove stuff but not other outlets, it must mean our viewers are actually important 🤣

I don’t think you get it Dave. We are going to revolutionize fork manufacturing on this forum without ever having visited a factory or even talking to a designer or engineer about the myriad of factors that affect the design and manufacture of said forks.

I put Oak levers on my Maven's last week and rode them over the weekend. I originally planned to buy the Freedom Coast levers because one of the owners there/at Better Bolts has always been overly nice to me, but I got these for a good price at my job so I can't tell you the differences between the brands. I ride gloveless as often as possible so I bought the Oak's mainly because of the dimples on the lever only to quickly feel like they're almost a little too abrasive for my bare fingers. It was cold out so...

That's correct, those are freedom coast. I have those on one bike and a set of oak components on another. I prefer the oak components.
