Switched up my light trail bike to Forekaster 2.4 Maxterra front and Ikon 2.2 maxxspeed rear. Honestly blow away how much grip this setup has, both braking and cornering. The local trails are all mild cross country loops, but still these tires kinda rip.

Grease goes between the shim and the post, carbon assembly paste goes between the shim and the frame. Never had an issue with slip or creaks from this area. I own four 30.9 posts and just shim for everything when swapping bikes, if required.

Thank you @ARonBurgundy Maxxis issued a replacement due to my tire being defective. Looking forward to riding a whole lot more on it!

Öhlins have changed their logo, from the signature and legendary Ö, to a new logo. Lacks all character and prestige that the old logo spent years to achieve. https://www.ohlins.com/about-us/news/new-visual-identity

Surprised no one dropped 300mm rotors yet for the 32” wheels. 😏

Yikes that’s not what you want to see. I just got a pair in maxxgrip EXO+ for use on the front - hopefully my experience is different. Somewhat relatedly, what do the tire nerds think of pairing the Dissector V2 in the front with the Xynotal (soft, enduro) in the rear for a fast-rolling short travel trail setup?

This post seems to have aged well. Although a bit of a bummer, the tire looks like a cool tread. I guess I'll stick with the Xynotol.

Your prayers have been answered - Alutech Pelmo with that they seem to call "super mullet" - 32" up front, and a 27.5" in the rear (I THINK) Not 100% sure what maxxis tire it runs up front, but I believe it is the new dissector gen 2

The durability of the doubledown maxxterra dissector v2 isn't proving to be very good on the back of my RAAW Madonna. I have 7 big rides on it with total of 104km/6200M (64mi/20,000ft) and the side knobs are falling apart. Some of them are half torn and might fall off pretty soon. The center tread looks pretty fresh considering how...

Not a rumor and not innovation per se, but yeah - Öhlins just unveiled their new visual identity. Y'all probably still don't know how to pronounce it though... :-) https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/ohlins-unveils-new-visual-i….

Vital article from a while back at the Chinese bike show this year. Chatted with my local shop in regards to WR1 and they aren’t doing frame replacements unless catastrophic failure. Frames are being sent to a company in Vancouver for carbon repair. Molds apparently are being sold to Sava Cycles and they will be flying the bikes under them and not WR1. Below pictured is the proto dh WR1 but now Sava will be bringing it to production in the distant future.

Funny enough, I trimmed and bled a pal's Elixir for brake issues this weekend (yes, we talked about how updating the brakes would be a good idea). Anyway, the brake with the kinked hose was working-ish. The kink was bad enough to cause a fluid restriction, so the pistons wouldn't return the way they're supposed to. This of course meant a real short lever stroke and pad rubbing. Nipped the hose down a smidge, new comp bushing and bled and the brake feels fine. Power wasn't an issue, just brake functionality. His was bad enough that I didn't feel 'rounding"...

I have had this happen on my SRAM setup where the kink was bad enough to cause brake loss. The plastic tube in the brake hose kinked at the sharp head tube routing exit and starting leaking fluid in the housing. Kinda like a pinch flat within the hose. No external fluid loss but enough to cause pressure loss in...
