I always felt that the suspension-creep happened for two reasons (and I'm happy to be proven otherwise): 1. Refined kinematics allowing for better pedalling performance allowing greater suspension travel without as many drawbacks 2. Better long-travel single-crown forks allowing for 170-180mm front travel without flexy noodles. These two combined resulting in models like the Megatower creeping up in travel, and then the Hightower creeps up behind to maintain the gaps in travel from before. My interpretation is the idea of returning EDR to what it was in the beginning. An intent to design courses that better suit a 160mm bike with a 36/Lyrik on it vs a bike that is basically a single crown DH bike. What round was it that had a boat load of pedalling and complaining of it being too long and tight transitions? More of that.

I've ridden both but predominantly use clips for mountain biking, and used to find if I switched back to flats on the DH bike they could get bounced a little bit on certain bumpy sections, so I imagine it could help with those situations. Its probably exaggerated by being used to clips - if I was riding flats full time it might not be an issue

If you’re TMD is sprung with coils, you could leave it open via a hole in the side somewhere and then the volume difference would be only the volume of the solids.

As someone who's 200+ Lb's and rides an enduro bike on blue trails, I've come to the conclusion that I just prefer having more mechanical grip when I ride. I'm also a lazy climber, and I love how more travel allows you to smash through technical climbs while pedaling in a seated position. I've tried short travel bikes, and overall they just feel uncomfortable to me in comparision, and more demanding in technical terrain. I also crash way way more descending on short travel bikes with less grippy tires. Seems like a high price to pay for a little bit...

Fox Genie fork incoming? AKA a fork with a larger air spring and piston. The other site has an article on the Genie-equiped Levo SL, and they write " Word is a fork equivalent on the dual-stage air spring is under development."

I know a few fast people who are on the DHX/Float X for DH use. The story I’ve heard is that it’s cheap, reliable and responds very well to retuning. It has less external adjustability than an X2, but if it’s tuned for you that doesn’t really matter.

I think the float x was also partially for more versatility than the x2. Its probably a bit better on the mellower trails than the x2 and still has plenty in it for park riding and dh trails.

After my friend @jeff231 made a comment about the Highroller 3 being sturdier than his DHR2 at the Snow Summit Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series and Jason making a similar comment on B Practice I went down to a bike shop yesterday to see if there was a difference in the sidewalls. Sure enough, the Highroller 3 has what feels like one of those anti-thorn strips running from the bead to about 3/5th up the sidewall under the rubber. I'm assuming it's primarily pinch flat protection but Jason and @jeff231 both indicate that it offers more support in the tire...
