10/9/2024 5:10pm Apparently I struck a nerve. Good news is there are plenty of DH bikes with old Boxxers, and enduro bikes with 21'-23' X2's for you guys to pony up to, since they are such awesome products.

10/9/2024 8:15am Been talked about before but now almost available to buy https://road.cc/content/tech-news/wheels-self-inflating-deflating-tyre-… From the world of gravel… Can add 14psi in a km (deflation much quicker) into a gravel tyre, would be slower for an xc tyre. At that rate, probably only plausible for xc marathon/stage racing which can have sustained road or fire road sections interspersed with difficult-for-an-xc-bike singletrack.

10/3/2024 10:36pm I would assume they would be tuned different but unless you’re riding so slow as to not generate any forces…

9/24/2024 10:02pm Specialized has stated that this is their strat moving forward. That was when they had the vacuum guy at the helm so maybe that will change? But it’s a consumer goods tactic to keep perceived value high while creating a perception of value/time pressure. “Damn that’s a $8k bike that must be cool. Oh wait it’s only $6599 rn I...

9/24/2024 3:11pm Right now the market fell out of mid and low end sales post covid. Top of the line stuff is probably chugging along just fine, as the target market is relatively recession immune, so we're going to see the eggs go into that basket for a while.

9/20/2024 10:19am What if you make hub engagement so slow that your suspension can fully compress without the hub catching?

9/17/2024 4:33pm I always felt that the suspension-creep happened for two reasons (and I'm happy to be proven otherwise): 1. Refined kinematics allowing for better pedalling performance allowing greater suspension travel without as many drawbacks 2. Better long-travel single-crown forks allowing for 170-180mm front travel without flexy noodles. These two combined resulting in models like the Megatower creeping up in travel, and then the Hightower creeps up behind to maintain the gaps in travel from before. So rather than the mid-travel models getting longer legs, its the long-travel models getting longer and the mid-travel growing to fill the gap. As was definitely...

9/17/2024 10:19am 1. The stevo has had a rabid fan base, but we all have cascade links and wrp yokes. This bike will be sick once/if people make some mods for them… 2. Geo is super workable. Worst size is s4 and you can buy an s5/s6 chainstay for it. Cahal is doing just that. 3. I feel like speci is lying...
