3/18/2024 1:03pm have heard "bernard is fine," so hopefully that's the case. i'm really surprised brands running protos in a race environment don't have a statement ready for social media before making bikes visible on the race track. "this was a prototype, we're pushing the edge of technology and racing. our athletes are putting them through extreme paces and sometimes the rider out-performs the prototype. we all know the risks involved with such daring endeavors. we're making sure our athlete has all the care they need after this incident. we'll research the cause of the failure and make our next one better."...

3/17/2024 8:27am I came here to say just that. If it did pull out I am sure that is one of the main causes. Even if it didn’t, it is still a horrible way to design a lugged bike. The way the atherton bike is done all of the lugs would have to fail for it to pull apart, not just the head tube lug.

3/16/2024 7:01pm I don’t know how to describe it other than saying it floats over all but the most extreme chunk. I’ve said this to multiple people and it sounds ridiculous but it is almost too good in that it eats up bumps so well that I was going so fast that it was hard to hold my line. I had planned to set it up with an Ochain and in true downhill fashion but realized that it was unlikely that I’d get a chance to use it for a few months if I did. That’s why I went with the extra...

3/16/2024 3:35pm Generally alignment fixtures and measuring equipment are placed on a large precision ground slab on a precision adjustable fixture. I've never checked if the one in my office is made of marble or another type of stone.

3/16/2024 3:26pm That is one of the best looking frames I have ever seen. Neko & Frameworks are hands down the coolest thing happening in MTBing right now. More vids!

3/16/2024 12:55pm You would still need an accurate fixture for bonding (like you do for welding) but the lack of heat stress from welding and heat treatment eliminates having to align them again. Saves time and labor.

3/16/2024 10:17am Plus it minimizes or completely avoids the need for heat treatment of frames. You can heat treat individual tubes/ lugs before bonding. That should simplify assembly and minimize issues like alignment. It also open up the door to using other allows that are not weldable like 7075 IIRC. Plus it looks sexy AF.

3/15/2024 3:47pm So I few observations- "packing" is just as much a low speed rebound thing as high speed. Maybe more as the bike just naturally ratchets itself down and sits at a deeper, stiffer part of the stroke. Not just in repeated big bumps. It can also be just as much a case of the spring or compression damping being too soft. You maybe don't need the wheel to "recover" so much as not end up so deep in the first place. HSR adjustments are Ok in theory - they don't always work quite right in practise but it does make...
