Speaking of Conti, anyone heard *anything* about when the trail casing Soft (and maybe Super Soft) are supposed to show up? It's been more than a year since they first showed them...

I think the confusion comes from the fact that he’s the team owner. People see “intense” and “owner” in the same sentence and jump to conclusions. I am super excited to see what he can do with Crestline though. Seems like he’s mirroring what the Athertons have done in Wales. They’d both been around the block and ridden for almost all the big brands. The Athertons bought robot bikes while Gwin’s got a nice slice at Crestline. Athertons have Dyfi and Gwin has Windrock. I’d love to see a red bull project where they ride each other’s bike parks.

Mips is comparative to a carbon Huffy mountain bike sold at Walmart vs. what 6D Helmets has goin on. Once you get their half-shell ATB-2T in your hands its a night and day difference. Even the 'pretty good' 360* disc technology Leatt has implement or the LDL rubber pivots that Kali innovated--all of them are so obviously lacking in velocity reduction if you were to smash the ever living shit out of your head. You can just see it, its not hard to tell. This is bigger than capitalism or 'favoritism'. This new 6D fullface is going to save/protect so...

Air VS Coil makes a big difference too. High progression with a linear rate coil spring works really good. Just need enough LSC so the bike doesn't feel lethargic with the softer initial travel.

I can appreciate they want to keep their secrets a secret until they can't and see the hype building as well. What I see happening eventually, mainly in DH, is a team saying it's to hide a secret but truth is, it's an aerodynamic fairing to squeeze out more speed.

counterpoint - i think it's less about hiding any potential IP, but more about building hype. because every time a bike shows up under wraps we immediately start discussing it and speculating.

I thought that was excellent. Good views of the riding, good commentary (I laughed when they knew the name of the dog trailside!), no awkward filler, the portraits of the riders without helmets at start of every run. I was trying to enjoy it more than analyze it so didn't have a stopwatch or anything, but of a 2:10-3:00 race run time it felt like half was shown. If a rider lost of gained time on a split it didn't seem mysterious. This one might be contentious, but I think the slower track conditions made it easier to watch, too...

Covering it up only calls attention to a bike, I'm pretty sure it's done to attract paparazzi the same as the dazzle camo on cars. I rode Digit prototypes with plain black paint and no graphics for years, basically nobody noticed. As soon as I put stickers on when or rode raw frames people would take interest.

OK, name another mainstream company that's done more for the sport and the athletes it supports in the last 15 years than RB. You ask why the change of heart? Can you point me to anyone from RB vastly over estimating (or just plain lying) on screen about the number of new viewers they've brought to the sport? You'll probably say they're only doing it to sell more fizzy drinks. No companies get involved in sponsoring MTB events out of the kindness of their hearts, they all do it for exposure and in an attempt to sell more of their...

I would put my money on this coming down to pad retract. The amount of push back they would get if it was next to impossible to get the rotors not to ping off the pads would be a lot more than a stiff lever feel. Throw in a cam with an aggressive motion ratio in the early stroke and it lets you get the pad retract in conjunction with a larger ratio of caliper piston area over master cylinder piston area at the expense of increased lever force early on in its range of motion. So I think it's...

Definitely going to take a look at them. Hard to say what all will really be possible until can see what the pad retract numbers are. There are some specific things I want to try that could work out quite well knock on wood.

@CascadeComponents any thoughts on potentially producing an aftermarket set of cams for the Mavens? I feel like some of the complaints people have had could be tuned out on your end. I've been running your cams in my Codes for a season or so and really enjoy the advanced bite point.

A GoPro isn't serving as an impact multiplier or ramping up the friction of an initial impact in any way. Concussions are like a cat of 9 tails on a bull whip. The weight of the head on the hinge of the neck is the amplifier. Now if you want to say the added WEIGHT of the GoPro is an amplifier because it increase the whiplash of the head on the pivoting neck, I'd be fine with that. GoPro on top (like with the hat) is a puncture/abrasion/fracture risk only if you lawn dart. No real concussion threat there. Lawn...
