I think his comment was more that 150bpm would be erroneously low.

Elite DH racers do hit pretty high HR numbers. Source

I had no issue with a TC having too much grip in the rear, but usually run a faster rolling rear on a trail bike setup. I'll tolerate a drifty rear on the trail bike. I prefer the way the TC behaves as it looses traction in a corner. The Magic Mary tends to snap as the side knobs fold...

I find the whoop sponsorship ironic, since the HR data on the broadcasts to showcase how inaccurate Whoop is. It is possible Bruni has a HR of 150bpm 3/4 of the way through a DH race run, but highly unlikely.

Magic Mary is better on loose / soft trails, Tacky Chan is better on harder / loose over hard. I run the TC as a front in the spring/summer and a MM in the fall/winter. The TC rolls a touch faster and the side knobs are more supportive. Sounds like TC front and rear would work well for you.

Two more weekends with no East Coast USDH races to go before the opening round of Downhill Southeast at the Trials Training Center in Southeast Tennessee... The Gravity Cooperative Crew has been busy on the podcast talking to key USDH players as they prep for liftoff in 2024. We had Ryan Pinkerton on the podcast this week and I can say the kid is absolutely ready to crush it in Elite this year on the new Mondraker Factory Racing team. Check out the episode on any podcast platform. https://open.spotify.com/episode/14NFktipou0aROyYqHLA6r?si=7sgVbv2cSrmm… Who think's Pinky has a podium performance in him this year...

It's gotta be Gwin to Nukeproof with Danny. Danny was just running interference by getting seen everywhere, while Gwin was doing rapid development on the new frame. 1mm different link length and it's perfect for the season to come. Well done Team!

From my experience with calipers, bolted vs mono block isn’t all that important as long as the bolted interface is done properly. That entails getting the fasteners as close to the rotor as possible and maximizing contact area between the two halves. Most the deflection should be between the joint/bridge and the bottom edge of the caliper regardless of how it’s constructed. In my mind for bikes, most the benefit of a mono block lies in packaging. Not having to worry about big bolts frees up space. The bridge across the center of magura calipers would be hard to fit...

Wayyyy back in 2013 my Specialized Enduro 29er had: 430mm chainstays Ample tire clearance 29 inch rear wheel front-derailleur support 142 (technically 142+) rear hub There is no performance justification for 148 or 157 to exist. Now that 148 is the defacto standard for everything from XC to DH, I will never own a bike that is 157 since it makes it that much harder to find the appropriate hub. I don't see 157 growing in marketshare.

I agree that for mortals a 52mm chain line on boost is superior to 55mm. Because of the cassette moving outwards 2.5mm with transmission, a 55mm chain line is roughly equivalent to a 52mm chain line on a non transmission drivetrain on a boost hub.
