Hey Jesse, I know you're a trained engineer and you're probably smarter than me and work for SRAM and I'm just some guy, but I've read that the SRAM Transmission does not use electronics to sense the shift gates in the cassette in order to sync the derailleur movements to match in time. Instead, the shift movement of the derailleur cage is instantaneous when you hit the button, and the delay you observe is from the chain waiting for a shift gate in the cassette to travel through the gate and change gears. The pronounced shift gates in the cassette...

Makes total sense. Every argument I've read saying why it needs to be electronic to work properly doesn't really make sense when there's potential to sell a lot and take advantage of the mounting.

To be fair, the Outside buyout enabled them to hire Ben Cathro and a bunch of other pro racers and eventually set up a full-time pro-level racing team, which is possibly the coolest thing any MTB media has done in the last couple of years.

I hope sram replaces the "Black Box" moniker used on all their prototype or unreleased stuff with "Don't post to Vital".

It is and I agree with what you're saying...BUT....bike brands raised their prices ridiculously during the pandemic. They can rationalize it all they want with increased shipping costs, etc. but the fact of the matter is that most bike companies gouged people because they could get away with it. Don't feel too bad for these companies...

Man, sometimes you just gotta make and sell bikes and focus on consumers. Backing riders and hoping for returns to track from it isn't an easy task for a smaller biz. I really hope Guerrilla Gravity does good. I made the mistake of agreeing to a "crash replacement" frame from Kona for my Process 153 & regret it. Had the opportunity to buy a GG right about the same time with a fantastic spec but nobody wanted my super shiny brand new, no warranty, Kona hates you frameset.

Shit is TOUGH out there right now. This is easily the worst quarter/season for bike brands ever. If you want to support your favorite independent bike brand, now is the time. Or perhaps a favorite rider etc.

My guess is that GG is being hit pretty hard with the bike market glut. So many big brands are blowing out bikes at 25% off because they overproduced, it's hard to compete. They're probably making some really hard cost decisions right now, and ending sponsorship deals is a not uncommon one

Chris Cocalis was on the other site's podcast and said they're making those frames in-house in AZ, iirc he said they could make one in ~3 weeks

If my job was to be really fast, and something that you could put on a fox fork (that isn't a SRAM product) was asked to be removed, I'd be frickin pissed. Especially if you are excelling at the "be really fast" aspect of the job requirement...
