Redbull made it very clear that they were not interested in letting Rob out of his contract with them, WB didn't even have the option if they'd wanted it to be fair.

OK kids. I'm the whiny a-hole on here. Break it up. Let's all be civil. Job's taken. Anyway, speaking of North American venues...whispers of a brand new US venue for next year. The other know it alls can throw out the rest of the hint bread crumbs for me.🤪

Fun fact: Of the top 30 qualifiers, SIXTEEN crossed Split 1 outside the top 30!!! NINE of the top 30 qualifiers were outside the Top 50 at Split 1!!! Don't think I've ever seen that. Almost like a glitch in the system???

Aaron Gwin and Dom Platt are the only two guys who started after Bruni to pull a top-30 so far, pretty stoked Aaron managed to weave through the carnage. I wonder if they’ll award normal qualifying points for this session, that could make a huge difference for Dakotah minimizing damage from a not as great run.

you sound dumb. Home country CHOSE to ONLY send ONE rider despite ZERO financial drain if others in the country wanted the opportunty. That's a South African hate crime to screw your own country's rider from participating. They had a CHOICE to allow others to go on their own dime The douchbag's of said country CHOSE to be douchebags. Zero harm to the country, the federation and/or their teeny tiny reputation. Reeks of a a personal and very specific slight against 1 singular person in a tiny country from some bitter, spiteful prick(s). That's all.

I enjoyed that multi-screen while it's live. Hopefully owner set it to "unpublished". Last time UCI/Warner Brothers banned his video & then made their own of it. At about 1:32 Loic & Dak have been flip flopping and suddenly Loic just lets everything go and jumps past by a good 2 seconds by the 1:43 time on clock, but it's so fast he couldn't hold on. Dak is 2-3 full bike lengths ahead at the padded entrance of the last shoot. 2 full yellow poles ahead of both! So good!! Amazingly, here is the exact thing that wins it for...

That was the commentary I got as well. The male dude was REALLY hard to listen to. Having T-Mo as co host was amazing and honestly I wish she would have just pushed the dude out of the box. Warner Bro's needs to pick her up, she did amazing.

Gotta say, if WB was putting full replays online (maybe one week after?) I'd have a much better opinion of them. This way I can't really moan about commentary; its free

all this voodoo is brand new to me, so here are some possibly dumb questions. would there ever be a need/benefit to using them in a horizontal way? like inside a rear hub/axle to ease a rear end getting kicked out/deflection? could you use them like bar ends parallel to ground (or head angle?) as a steering damper? ignoring weight, would these things help an XC bike feel more stable down the hill with light tires? those old bontrager buzzkill things mentioned in the tech forum are interesting too, but @NoahColorado has dibs on 'em.

Humans and bike suspension are both not so great at handling high frequency impacts. If you can reduce the amount of high frequency impacts that make it to your hands in particular, there’s some benefit. If I were to make an argument for buttercups it would revolve around this. There is also some merit in making the sprung mass on your bike higher. Imagine a track where all impacts are 100 mm tall. If you make your bike VERY heavy, your ride height is set using preload on a lighter spring, and you’re running light damping, the wheels just move...

I've always wondered how/why the early 2000s Specialized Stumpjumper became the go-to bike in illustrations on patents like these.

Interesting that they specify the range of 22-26Hz as that is right around the frequency I have measured myself as being relevant. The wheels natural frequency is close to, or just under that point but most suspension systems are effective up to about 15Hz then taper down to 20Hz, most stop responding around there but good ones appear to still work up to near 30Hz. This is mostly friction and a little bit of hysteresis in the damper preventing it from changing direction that quickly. So there is a narrow window just above 20Hz where the tyres will be bouncing...
