One thing they touched on in the Making up the Numbers podcast I found interesting was WB being of the mind that Rob Warner would turn casual fans away. I’ve made non-bike people sit down and watch a World Cup and they all agree that Rob brings up the engagement for them. (haven’t made them watch post WB takeover ironically) Like Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear, he’s engaging for non-car people. I know this horse has been throughly beaten and I’m generally optimistic about where WB is taking it but stuff like this makes it no mystery why everyone on the other site is so pessimistic.
Commentators have to wear sports jackets. One has to have no clue what is going on or what the sport actually is and other one gets interrupted half way through what they are saying by an advert/promotion. It's how professional sports work.
I somehow ended up watching some E-sport (rocket league-don't ask) last night. The commentary team were all wearing (and obviously made to from how uncomfortable they looked)- sports jackets. It has to be bland.It has to be generic.Individuality will not be tolerated.

I want to give everyone on the pod a platform to speak candidly. With this episode we were up against it, we only recorded on Friday morning & I knew Singletrack were publishing on Friday evening, so we rushed it out & Jack, Emilie & Joe didn’t get a chance to listen back to it until it was live. On reflection there were a couple of bits where people wished they’d phrased things differently. I was racing at the time in a field in Wales & didn’t have the files with me to re-edit (or any decent internet) so I took it down for a bit. I've seen a bit of speculation about bits being removed but I can confirm no big revelations were removed

A counterexample in e-sports is competitive Pokemon is commentated all by former or current players, or people active in the community on YouTube, ect. I guess the difference there is it's not a game with a ball and is an intricate game off chess. It's hilarious that Rocket League and Competitive Pokemon are likely watched by more people than DH (they're free!), and also have that illusive audience WB is chasing that doesn't take part in the game/sport. What a time to be alive.

Maybe it's because I have been a fan since before the Freecaster/ RedBull days. I think the GCN app was good as it bundled all cycling racing into a single source and I didn't mind paying for it.
Totally agree with you on the GCN+ app. It was great having all cycling disciplines in one place, for one price, live or on demand and no adverts for the same one price!

On Making Up the Numbers, Emmy has indicated that Cam has been exploring other bike options and actually feels positive about her racing this season (crashes aside). Emmy seemed to be saying that Cami is still ready to compete and is anxious to get back on the mix. Of course, that could just be self-serving publicity for potential sponsors, but I’ll take her at her word.

Sounds like the majority of Enduro teams will be folding. Lots of high profile riders will be on their own "provateer" setups

I'm about as die hard an Enduro fan as they come, and even I didn't know some races were happening some weekend this year. There is no (good) coverage outside of some top pros putting in good YouTube content.
And there is definitely no space left to join DH...

wait but hold on what if we made EDR into competitive Pokemon-GO! so racers would spend the day trying to collect as many Pokemon as possible?
This would also make it easier to follow as you could just look at each racer's bag as the day progresses >
