Boy, this thread seems to have strayed off-topic a bit. Isn't there a racing rumors thread that is better for all the racing talk?

I know that there is a tangential connection to team rumors, but the correlation is getting really thin. Any way y'all could move the EMTB sales talk to a different thread?

if prototype bikes have to have a cloth diaper to conceal them on race day, i think we have a ways to go before F1 status. kidding...i love this discussion and the responses so far. i'm not too worried about downhill. the mainstream moon is always promised by some pitch-maker, it's never delivered, and yet the DH bikes keep smashing, and the privateers keep camping.

DH will never achieve mainstream viewership. It's more boring than baseball if you're not a dedicated fan. Anyone who tells you DH is about to "break through" is selling you a bridge. The Rampage broadcast could achieve mainstream viewership in theory, but the way they broadcast it live is SOOOOOO long and boring, and it's a just once-a-year event which makes it hard for people to attach to. As it sits, watching a live Rampage broadcast is a mix of boredom, white hot panic, and frustration.

If you've never been to Snowshoe...there are more trees than rocks. You'd go broke trying to pad everything. None of the rocks are padded. Riders are padded. Elbows. Backs. Brains. Shins. Knees. I've never been bothered by trees not having pads. Lung puncturing dead fall on the downslope is my phobia though.

fantastic racing and broadcast with great track coverage and replays. gwin in the booth was money! bike abuse video w/ footage from the days of practice so stoked for dak! never wanted loic to go slow so badly in my life.

Damn Gwin is a natural in the commentary boot. So well spoken and does not pretend to be talking to casual viewers.

course building consideration needs to take weather into account. super neato that there's a steep, tricky course that is epic in the dry or post-rain. if everyone local knows that the dirt would be too slippery if rainy/muddy, why build the course so steep as to prevent riding or safe medical treatments/evacuations? crappy day for DH. EC would have raced in his undies and on rims only. i ask a serious question here. would teams/riders/brands ever consider boycotting world cup DH and focusing on something like crankworx in 2024 and/or national series? since $ is apparently tight based on 2024...

considering Spomer started the site from scratch, is a great dude who literally does no one harm...and constantly gets his content ideas stolen/replicated/etc ripped off by that specific site...not so much nonsense. Guy is trying to feed a family. And the dude that owned PB before it got sold was totally OK with the intellectual property theft from day 1. Bikes are fun. Doesn't mean you can be a cutthroat douchebag to the people who love them.
