Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
OK kids. I'm the whiny a-hole on here. Break it up.
Let's all be civil. Job's taken.
Anyway, speaking of North American venues...whispers of a brand new US venue for next year.
The other know it alls can throw out the rest of the hint bread crumbs for me.🤪
Which, the northeast or the ssoutheast one?
Did I miss something? did the semi-finals disappear mid-season without warning or comments? I know nobody liked them but are the rules supposed to change in the middle of the season??
I think they were "rained out" in one way or another.
I'm not 100% certain what the official reason given was (limit laps on the track, rider safety, etc.) but they decided to take qualifying runs and have that populate the finals field.
Thanks.
It's a bit concerning WB keeps changing the rules, and schedule at their will. I don't remember qualifications, juniors, schedules or what-not being changed that much in the previous 10 (or even 20) years. The concept of a sport is to have stable rules... it's becoming more of a show than a sport.. Also, 10 women in the finals.. are you serious... when we have to endure 30 minutes of nonsense babbling as a pre-show.. I'd like to see more women riding than TV anchors wandering in the mountains..
agree on all points. But when you got Talking Heads like Needles babbling and getting to insert his input with a bunch of TV puppets, this is what you get.
I'd be very intrigued to hear a team manager's focus group interview. People like @Captain23 who can give some insight from all sides.
Based on what I read they cancelled them to protect the track (it was getting destroyed in the wet).
Greg spells it out on wyntv
This is the main thing I think of when people say they want DH to be like F1: they’ll change the rules, the actual rules, like on a Tuesday between races. Fake shit!
I mean, F1 has made up plenty of rules on the fly... Like every stewarding decision ever and who could forget Abu Dhabi 2021. So I'd say they are on par with F1 in that respect.
Yeah. I think it’s a bad thing.
Wait changing schedule to allow for a better race is now a bad thing?
The change in schedule meant a lot of people didnt get near enough practice runs in. Hardly seems fair not to mention it hurts the product
NW Cup finals went off! some of the near misses are terrifying.
Dak had to travel back from Euroland, so Loudenvielle podcast got recorded yesterday. If you don't have time to listen, one of the main reasons Dak was off the pace was that he didn't put mud tires on for his race run. Live and learn...
Great episode per usual. I really, really enjoyed the segment where Dak was talking about "decision fatigue." While he would clearly love to have someone to make some of the decisions for him, I can't help but wonder how hard that would be for a rider. There are some wild levels of trust that have developed in the teams who have line spotters, mechanics, etc.. making the decisions for the riders around kit and setup.
I'm sure Dak would have loved for someone to have said, "I'm putting Wet Screams on your bike. That's what you're running." But I can also see Dak getting it in his head that "This person made this choice. I don't think I agree with it." and then that doubt destroying rider onfidence and thus rider performance.
The googles weight thing reminded me of the few times I've tried to run my GoPro under my visor. Just yanks the helmet & everything down on your nose. Think I saw Myriam do a race run for RedBull a few years back with hers mounted under visor & couldn't believe she'd run one there for a World Cup race run.
Vital RAW from DH Rockies Purgatory. One of the great #USDH tracks!
Any list of registered riders out there for the US Open @ Killington?? Mont St. Anne is the following week so not sure if any Euro riders are coming over early??
US Open Pre-race podcast and schedule from the Monster Pro DH crew - @Batts i'm sure they'll be sending out updates with riders lists. usopen.bike and their instagram usually have that info up quickly.
They're still moving people onto and off of the wait list.
Watching the last WynTv, he was asking everyone he interviewed if they were going, and lots were.
I am sure if (add top 20 WC racer name here) wants to race the Open Clay will find room and not use a wait list.
I can confirm that the Elite Men's field has a very robust list of top WC pros alongside all of the Domestic Pros from the US. The Women's field is by far and away stronger than any North American race I've ever seen outside of the World Cup rounds (Mont St Anne, Windham, Snowshoe). Way more stacked women's field than Crankworx Whistler. This replay show is going to be a must watch!
Might need to show as many ladies as men for this one then
.
wait list meaning they haven't published the racer list b/c it's not finalized.
If I were a WC top 30 rider, knowing that Lolo has already wrapped up the overall, I’d be itching to get a slice of that sweet, sweet USOpen prize purse heading into the most questionable off season in memory. It will be very interesting to see how many euros/frenchies are on the start list.
What are the logistics of flying into the United States then immediately driving across the border to Canadadadaaaa?
Is it as straight forward as just flying into Canada from a foreign country?
As for WC racers, saw on IG where Luke MS is doing the Open.
ArriveCan and eTA/AVE.
