See, the difference here is that ten years ago Charlie and company had an entire blog essentially dedicated to being pedantic little shits about bike industry garbage and we all loved them for it. So when he does it now, it's nostalgic.

That's normal for XD and XDr. Hope does the same thing. been like that for a few years. XDr 12 speed uses 11-speed spacing between gears so it needed a bit more room - just shy of 2mm as it would happen. I am assuming 13 speed comes about by SRAM using a narrower-than-11-speed spacing on the XDr driver. Certainly...

I believe I heard new bars and stem were in the works. Frames, not so much. I've personally seen a few roll out this summer but seemingly only for industry affiliates/staff (and I guess whoever wanted the Edmonton Oilers custom frame). Wouldn't be surprised if they keep making them but only for VIPs, events, and show pieces. I strongly suspect...

I used to complain about gravel gear range until I remembered that gravel is for people in the Midwest.

So the rumour mill this week is swirling about the current Range being a single model year generation (spec/colour has been carried forward since release).

I’m getting the vibe this is a word salad thing for everybody. Maybe try this: The chain “knows” when to shift because of how the system/cassette is designed. Or even better: the chain “knows” what to do after the derailleur instructs it to move. Almost sounds like I’m describing a mechanical drivetrain…

I've done the same - 12S XT to an XT/Deore based, 10S linkglide mix.

You say that, but I pulled a fresh XT 12 speed drivetrain off a bike a month ago in favour of 10 speed deore link glide. 100% I'd pull transmission too, no doubt in my mind.

That’s just the thing though. These bigger companies don’t want you to have a choice. I figured most of us would’ve accepted that by now.
