I know we are all supposed to be impressed with the new Stumpy, but man the new Status is a much better looker. Simple and clean. One of the best looking bikes I've seen in a while.

The popularity of social media and the need for new content (see also the daily news cycle) in the past 10 years or so has blurred the line for many between opinion and fact and has created comfy echo chambers for us lazy animals. Or somethign like that. Back to Ibis... it's commendable they tried to limit investment by reusing materials through the range, clearly the financial sting from the past few years is still there. But like what often happens, that middle ground is OK at everything and not great at any one thing.

continue chainstay length discussions HERE as to not drown the tech rumors out https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/The-Hub,2/The-Internet-Was-Wrong-Short-… started in 2016, @jeff.brines ' "short chainstays suck" thread can live on.

Weird the ESTA is steeper in small, then slacker in m/xm, then steeper again in the big sizes. Usually they just say it's the same across the board or steepens slightly as size goes up. Must be for rear wheel clearance. As to the short cs/long cs thing, I'll just say I wouldn't want all brands to be on the...

Did y'all notice the BB height changes dramatically between sizes, from 338 to 350mm? I don't think I've ever seen that on a geo chart. Meanwhile the chainstay length only changes 5mm from smallest to biggest. Kinda odd.

There's been a lot of conversation about chainstay length recently. I am a big guy, riding a XL and I gotta say, for a trail bike I don't want this massive chainstay. My bikes are big enough as is. Me trying to navigate a tight trail system is hard enough on a ~1270 wheel base. Enduro and DH race bikes, yes, all for longer stays. But the Ripmo is firmly a long travel trail bike with the introduction of the HD6.

I was at a Norco dealer and we sold absolute boatloads of the previous generations of opening price point fluids and those came with an utterly dogshit suspension spec. The Suntour fork borderline didn't work and the X-fusion shock's bushings knocked in a couple weeks if the bike was actually ridden. Sold so many fox mounting hardware and bushing kits...

noticed that the base model 134 comes in with an MSRP of under $2k USD. definitely a budget build, but IMO its good to see that there are proper bikes in that price range for new riders looking at their first bike.

The unsaid implication that other midweight ebikes are not burly enough for heavy duty riding is pretty funny. Are people cracking Fuel EXe's left and right on real trails? Let's see what Trek's upcoming SlashE is like. Im willing to bet its not a full-fat ebike and probably weighs more than this in any event. I was going to make...

Presumably if you really want stick on cable guides to work you'd rough up your paint and then use an epoxy. They ain't going anywhere then! When I refinish my claymore I'm strongly considering plugging the internal routing holes with an Inanimate Carbon Rod and adding cable guides to the rear triangle to go fully external (instead of the stock...

You could need adult diapers today if you drink enough… I'm guessing Shimano will be releasing an updated Saint brake soon, with minor changes- the current (“old”) Saints don’t suffer from the issues that many people have with the other Shimano brakes. Possibly thicker rotors, smaller primary cylinder diameter.

They weren't that bad if you disabled the DRCV feature during a rebuild and just turned them into higher volume regular shocks with a weird eye to eye and stroke.
