An EXTREMELY simplified explanation of why video gets blurred: The more detail in an image, the more data is required to describe that image. There's a limit to how much data cameras can capture in real time, how much they can send in "real time," how much broadcasters can send in "real time," how much internet service providers can receive and send in "real time," and how much your TV provider can send in "real time." So it seems that WBD are unsatisfied with the number of fans they managed to piss off yesterday with the Q2 no show. Lets bring the numbers up today by scrapping the junior women's race coverage without a word of explanation. Edit. I'm just spitballing here, but one of the limiting dimensions that does not help gain wheel size or suspension travel is headtube length. What if for 32" bikes, the head tube was split, in which case it only needs to house a bearing on each end, and the stem attached in between? Scott does so much integration hell already that I'd bet they'd be into this.

Really good post but I still think we are suffering from the same problem that we had 10-15 years ago: bike design, geo, riding style, and bike setup are all based on available tech and components. Once we add a new tool to the arsenal the landscape shifts around it. Riding styles will change and bikes will be designed with different parameters and the whole sport will evolve. 20% heavier wheels is like 2 or 3 pounds. For tall riders that is absolutely negligible. It's a small market, and maybe too small to be viable, but if short people have 24", 26", and 27.5" wheel options, I don't see the harm in letting people over 6'4" have an additional choice. I'm 6'7" and people are constantly asking me if my bikes are 27.5 since the wheels look comically undersized versus the frame. I'd happily try a little extra weight to see if a larger wheel diameter helps compensate for my higher center of gravity.

The problem is their ‘path’ to increased exposure seems pretty poorly planned and executed. If you really wanted more eyes on it, you would put it somewhere free (or cheap) and easy for longtime fans and then you could also put it in the sports package for the general public who have MAX to stumble upon. Right now you have a product that is only marginally better than the previous RedBull version. However the RedBull version was free and super easy to access. Good to see them trying something that will really pop and get attention. I hope golden hour works out. I've done decades of night riding and golden-dusk is the hardest time to night ride. Once it gets proper dark, lights work better as you can see shadows with better contrast. It might be OK with the lights being external vs on-bike and I'm sure they'll push the lumens to 11 so the cameras can function. Either way, really cool idea and should be good for Enduro visibility.

Haven't tried them before, everything seems good so far though. I think they're the same weight ballpark as DT EX1700 but have pawls instead of a ratchet freehub I think.

I have not been a fan of the commentating for some time but this weekend marked a new low. I don’t follow moto so Ken Roczen’s presence in the booth did absolutely nothing for me — it only detracted from the viewing experience as Josh just fanned out about moto stuff rather than talking about the actual race runs taking place. Josh’s poor and regionalized vocabulary is a bad trait for a commentator and he rarely has anything of value to add. Watch a basketball game if you want to see how much a caller can contribute. well Joe Breeden hadn't had a top 20 result since 2021 and this season so far hasn't been out of the top 20. Tuhoto is looking faster but just needs to keep it between the tape. He has made all the finals except Poland where he was 21st in qualies after not making any last year.

If you are going to compare apples to apples then it would be mechanical systems. There is no way a GX mechanical system is anywhere close to the quality of XT. GX AXS derailleur is garbage, no clutch, poor durability, clunk and loud. XO transmission for the past two years of using has been problematic. Instead of having influencers standing derailleurs for marketing value shimano had riders hit derailleurs off rocks. More real world scenarios.
