I have not been a fan of the commentating for some time but this weekend marked a new low. I don’t follow moto so Ken Roczen’s presence in the booth did absolutely nothing for me — it only detracted from the viewing experience as Josh just fanned out about moto stuff rather than talking about the actual race runs taking place. Josh’s poor and regionalized vocabulary is a bad trait for a commentator and he rarely has anything of value to add. Watch a basketball game if you want to see how much a caller can contribute. well Joe Breeden hadn't had a top 20 result since 2021 and this season so far hasn't been out of the top 20. Tuhoto is looking faster but just needs to keep it between the tape. He has made all the finals except Poland where he was 21st in qualies after not making any last year.

If you are going to compare apples to apples then it would be mechanical systems. There is no way a GX mechanical system is anywhere close to the quality of XT. GX AXS derailleur is garbage, no clutch, poor durability, clunk and loud. XO transmission for the past two years of using has been problematic. Instead of having influencers standing derailleurs for marketing value shimano had riders hit derailleurs off rocks. More real world scenarios. UDH isn’t proprietary. SRAM doesn’t charge bike manufacturers to use it. Personally I think the UDH is a good thing AND I think the SRAM direct mount derailleur is a bad idea.

Yeah, can't agree with that at all. I work on these things all the time and GX quality is wayyyy lower than XT in my experience. I'll add that the new Shimano stuff is totally comparable to Transmission, which is just the latest iteration of SRAM's wireless drivetrain. Curious why you think it isn't. Because it doesn't require a proprietary frame standard to attach the derailleur?

I see Wyn’s reason for anger. Didn’t he fight as a privateer to move and up where he is now? He wants others to have the same opportunity not have mommy and daddy buy spots on teams. He IMO has done more good for the sport of late than anyone else. So yiu know Im going to continue to believe he if fighting a fight he feels is right and not just an old man yelling get off my lawn.

You forgot that they dropped the elite women's field from 15 to 10 riders before putting it back up (and tried to spin it that they were doing something positive rather than just returning it to the RB numbers).

I am glad improvements have been made to the broadcast and we are at the very least seeing things go in the RIGHT direction, coming from arguably quite a low point. Make tiers to how it functions. The NX Ochain has lead installed into it to make it a little heavier and 2° of disengagement. Then the GX is a smidge lighter but it contains more degrees of disengagement. The Eagle Pro Premium will give you 360° of disengagement as well a cool bird and the additional benefit of less mass moving on your body because you just emptied your wallet to buy it.

Chalk another one up for 11 speed XT. Been running it since late 2019, and I just have no complaints. The only drivetrain that seems attractive to would be link glide, but those cassettes are pretty damn heavy, and I often find myself only needed to replace one drivetrain part at a time so no need to spend more than I need to.

To answer Tech Rumors about Hope brakes I see nothing that implies the new model will be mineral, while the calipers appears to be narrower ( running 1.8 floating rotors and still have pistons in on what looks like a V4 caliper, piston size wise ) Same machining as the V4 caliper but instead of the V4 logo it spots: GR4 and on the top it’s got 3 arrows pointing in different directions. Not sure weather is a Team only spec V4 caliper with different laser etching or a full new caliper ( I think the last one ) What...
